Self Cancelling Indicators

Hi Rich, I'm afraid I don't have a copy of Ian's circuit - this is a new design by me, using a programmable ATTiny85 micro for more 'logical' operations.

With a toggle switch, it will turn the indicator off IF (time since turned on > x AND time since brake release > y) OR switch is off.

With a push button, it will turn the indicator off  IF (time since turned on > x AND time since brake release > y) OR same direction button is pressed again OR opposite direction button is pressed.

Very similar to the Westfield self-cancelling indicator, but with a brake input to inhibit the off, plus the option of using with a Lucas style toggle switch.

I have a new hobby - counting indicator flashes while I drive to work!

I reckon x = 12 and y = 6 sec works well - I'll probably try this and a dip switch selectable alternative of x = 15 and y = 9 sec.

PCB design is finished - will order a batch for testing next...

I'm happy to test one if you have a spare  :d

my self cancelling ones use a push button. press for one second and i think you get 3 flashes, 2 seconds its 5 flashes, and 3 seconds they stay on till you press again. tbh this needs to be more. i'm forever pressing the button so I would say your 12 flashes is probably about right. but if I read it right it will be doing 2 flashes per second which seems a bit fast.

I don't believe your car exists, John :)

Hah :) ! Look on the Classic Car Tours International facebook page for pictures! - Just got back from the Angouleme Circuit Des Ramparts trip with them. Fantastic event! About 1500 miles in total.
