Headlights - 7" Or 5 3/4" Where To Measure

Sorry for the noob question, but where is the headlight measurement taken from?

The lens (glass) or the unit as a whole.

The reason I ask is that the lens is about five and a half, and the whole unit is about six and a half.

I'd say the lens then

It's the lens but some of it is hidden behind the retaining ring so yours will be 5 3/4

Hope you got it sorted,

If not, look at a picture, believe me you can see a huge difference between them. I've never needed to measure mine, just knew after seeing a couple of cars with the other sizes.
