Doug Dastardly Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Looks like good progress. You might have your reasons but you've fitted the shocks differently to me, and I think I did it the manual's way. If you fit the rears the other way, you'll be able to turn the adjusters with the wheels on. And I think my fronts are the other way up. Not meant as critisim, just pointing it out. When you fit the diff, you'll need to fit the fuel tank mounting tray by the suspension bolts, which is not mentioned in the manual untill much later. Enjoy Quote
alexander72 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 that shed looks good with the brick inner walls :-) Quote
Speed Freak Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 brilliant build thread. keep it up mate! Quote
Bubba Posted December 3, 2012 Author Posted December 3, 2012 So then with all the excitement of my first day on the build I arose mega early on 18/11 to fit the heart of Bumblebee. This went from the van To the Engine Lift (Whoever said no specialist tools were needed must be a bodybuilder as I would never be able to lift it ;-) ) And in the meantime we took the car off the build stands to then get the engine over the frame to then mount it into the frame to then use the engine lift again to lift engine and frame back onto the build stands. And the diff turned up as well so we thought it would be rude not to put it in. However did have a little bit of an issue where I got a bit over excited with the lump hammer knocking in the bottom pin and made a little mess of the thread on one end of the pin. This left the prop shaft to put in and mated it to the gearbox but wasn't fitted...... yet Quote
jonjh1964 Posted December 3, 2012 Posted December 3, 2012 Agree with Doug ref adjustment of rear shocks but the fronts are okay either way and have to be the way you've fitted them if you're fitting a WF front ARB. Also check the wiring harness should go through the 1st tunnel cover not the scuttle panel - I was following Rhett's build and copied him - including removing it and fitting through the right one. Enjoy the build - I wimped out on the hand riveter and bought an air riveter and compressor! Have you seen any of these builds all very useful: http://rhetts-westfield.blogspot.co.uk/ http://iomwestfield.blogspot.co.uk/ http://kevins-westfield.blogspot.co.uk/ Jon H PS and mine http://2js-westfield-build.blogspot.co.uk/ Quote
