Neil Armstrong Dead

The period that the moon landings happened was one of constant technological improvments and what ever anyones morale views upon war it does acclerate technology as man seeks to kill man. The V2 rockets and the jet engine was a direct result of war without the conflict the progress would have been so slow.

But in the era of space travel, we still had people who were alive for the first powered flight and here now men were going to the moon. It was a great era of advancements where real hero's did heroic things and the cult of celberaty had not been thought of, where success was not measured by how many twitter followers you had.

Yes it was expensive but we need to be learning exploring all the time to continue to develop. We still have men and women like Neil Armstrong what we need is leaders willing to look further forward than the next poll rating to allow them to do the things like going to the Moon and beyond.

The guy was a true legend. Watched the landings and the space programme as it unfolded first with Gagarin-Glenn then the rest. Its a shame it stopped but when you consider all that was done with computers having less memory than an average watch then it makes it all the more impessive. The space shuttle was a good piece of engineering and we can do much better nowadays, the hunger is not to go there as proably there is not must mineral wealth in the moon, more elsewhere. I was thinking he should really have a full state funeral and be buried in Arlington but he wasn't military when he was an astronaut and also valued his privacy so much. His family will decide, like the poignant message that his memory should be recalled every time we see the moon, classic. Who could we have to replace him as one of our real and proper heroes?.
