Mat Jackson Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Even stranger - Currys and PC World. Stocl identical PC stuff at the same prices - Why two brands...... Quote
Norman Verona Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Curry's and PC World were different in so much that one stocked household goods and the other electronic items. I suspect you'll see one of them slowly disappear over the next few years. Quote
M444TTB Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Or both! DSG is a company slowly going down the toilet. Quote
Norman Verona Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Probably. I had a friend who worked in their accounts department in the late 70's early 80's. He queried why they didn't pay by statement but by invoice. His boss didn't know what he was talking about and actually asked what the difference was. Rod produced an invoice marked for payment and explained that it had already been paid. He further explained that if they processed the statement and checked it against the invoices posted to the system this wouldn't happen. The boss just shrugged and said it wasn't his problem so just pay the bl**dy thing. It was for TVs and was over £1 million. Quote
stephenh Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 You only have to look at your own posts to see why they have two retail companies (the Minshaw family that is) some slate DT and praise JJC. Its a "win-win" situation. Personally, I like DT, they stock the top quality stuff, and their prices for a given brand seem to me to be comparable to competition such as Merlin Motorsport. DT is nearer to me, and if I want something urgently I can drive over to DT. Quote
jeff oakley Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 It is quite common in many areas of supply. Kwik fit bought Manor tyre in Bristol and several other locally known companies, they trade on the same computer and they qoute the same but many who hate Kwik fit buy there as they know no different. It is strange when the same company has two pricing stuctures for the same product. Quote
AdamR Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Slight bump - had to return something to JJC. Their website recommends a recorded delivery service, so I sent it with our courier from work. Problem is, JJC only have a PO Box address listed on their website, to which our couriers can't deliver. I called JJC to ask their 'real address', which they would not give me. I sent the item Demon Tweek's address instead (75 Ash Road South) and my refund was completed today... Quick service, just didn't really appreciate the 'cloak and dagger' nature of the situation. Quote
kevip6 Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 So the moral of the story is, buy from Demon Tweeks as they have an address Quote
AdamR Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Or buy from JJC cos they are cheaper, but if you need to return something and want to use a courier, send it to DT's address JJC have an address, it's the same as DT, just they tell you it's a PO Box so you don't know it's the same as DT... Quote
FILFAN Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 is it not illegal to operate a business from a po box Quote
Martin Keene Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Just I case there was any doubt, have a look at this... http://urlspy.co.uk/www.jjcraceandrally.com#server_two Quote

Wow. I didn't realise there was a price difference let alone how much the price is different! I'll check JJC in future! They seem to be priced the same on eBay from the items I've looked at but that could be coincidence Quote
