Big day on the dyno tommorrow.

I'm looking forward to it but the weather's a bit of a worry. Could be showers which is fine, but they tend to be really heavy thundery showers just now. :(

Fingers crossed.

Thats true, problem is i have family down this week, and I have a minor electrical issue, well when I say minor. Nothing works at the moment, and i cannot figure out why !!!

Doug, try to go over 45mph, just a touch, you wont get wet so much, aparently!

Weather great out that way this morning when I left for work so fingers crossed for you! I'm assuming your heading to huntly on a96 then across or you taking the coast road? There's an old church at the end of the road to Ricky's place and if you are coming from huntly direction and see some old tractors on your right hand side you've gone too far ;)

:swear: weather.

Drive there wasn't too bad, a few light showers and road spray. Just took the A96 as the skies looked brighter than via carrbridge abelour dufftown which would be my normal route to huntly.

Drive home was ****ing awful. Went through some fairly heavy showers which wasn't much fun, very wet roads inbetween showers and then torrential rain  took a chance and headed for the hills but it got so wet I headed to nairn from grantown then headed to cawdor castle, hoping to shelter in their cafe as I could see the black clouds. Had to follow a camper creeping along so the rain hit before I could get parked and covered. I was soaked through.

Anyway good or bad, Ricky said it was much more than a base map that omex had sent and he couldn't improve on it. He made it 124 bhp at the wheels, or 151 at the fly which is spot on.

The temps seem fine, but the guage overreads by 15 to 20 deg so he reakons I need a different sender. Although I noticed when looking for a sender that they should be fitted dry whereas I used silicone, could this be the problem?

Anyway thanks for the help guys.

Be nice to meet up sometime Dave, but there's no rush.

Doug - Glad to hear that the temperature problem is just down to the sender. Pity you got so wet - welcome to driving a Westie during the Scottish summer :) .

It was good to meet you on Sunday - the car should be nicely run in by the time we have the next trackday!

Shame Ricky couldn't find anymore power but at least you know its running safe.

Shame about the weather, was great this morning and then the heavens opened so I was thinking of you when I was nice and dry at work! To be fair, you were lucky not to be stuck in the rain that hit Aberdeen at tea time!

I've just spoken to ETB (very helpful) and the VDO water temp sender is incompatible with their gauges. This would account for the extra temp as it's a 120 deg sender whereas the ETB one is 150 deg.

When he described the physical differences between senders it all made sense- the water pipe with the welded in boss for the sender was originally supplied with the wrong threads (WF had a whole batch like this) so the original sender got locked half way in and wouldn't come out until it broke. WF supplied another pipe (although I suspect it had been retapped as the threads didn't look pretty) and a new sender which looked different. I was told it was compatible. Its obviously not.

So hopefully I'll get my new sender soon and get an accurate gauge. I'll probably go straight from 'overheating' to overcooling

I see the Golspie sprint is on 8/9 September is the intention to get a mini meet organised?....Doug my car is now in Forres having taken a look at the weather forecast and driven down on Tuesday morning...rain free!!!!. I cannot make the Rally you previously mentioned this weekend as am off down to Blair Atholl (in the Disco)

BTW if anyone is out in the Aviemore/Grantown area on Saturday watch out as there are 1000 Harley Davidson bikers having their annual rally
