Westfields Rock On Posted March 6, 2003 Posted March 6, 2003 Escort Mexico - Dribble, *want* *slaps juan round face* Get a hold of your self man!!!!! you have a westy that'll run rings round it. Quote
juansolo Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 That's not the point. BDA (the noise...), sideways everywhere - THAT is the point. There are lots of things that'll run rings around a Mexico but I doubt there are many that can do that AND are more fun. It just happens that a Westie is one of them that is. Still, a Grp4 Escort is still very, very high on my want list. I apologise in advance though as I've just hit rant mode an there is no stopping me until I'm done... Being the fastest thing out there is pointless on a trackday. This is why it amuses me that people are buying SR3's for TD's. As trackdays mix all abilities and all kinds of cars you'll end up spending all day waiting for other cars to let you by and for what reason? To prove to a bunch of people who are not racing you that you are the fastest person on track? You bl**** should be in £50k of racing car! If you want to prove something go racing. Saying 'oooh I've overtaken this, or I've over taken that at a trackday so I'm obviously a driving God is complete balls. Get into a situation where everyone out there has the same mindset then fine. Sorry to rant but it's one of the things that really winds me up. Single marque trackdays are usually the worst for this also as they participants all know each other which unfortunately means you get one or two 'must be faster than eveyone else so I can gloat later' types. Which inevitably means aggressive driving and dodgy overtaking. Personally I shall be shedding the 32R's and fitting some knackered A539's for Elvington. Where airfields are concerned, grip is the enemy Quote
Bananaman Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 juansolo If you like Classic Fords you should book the Cadwell Track day on the 1st August. See Here Andy Quote

Very good points John, I agree with your comments. Except for one... That's not the point. BDA (the noise...), sideways everywhere - THAT is the point. Errr... Sorry, but all you'll hear from a MkII Mexico is the sound of a screaming 1600cc Pinto with about 95bhp. If you want a BDA noise, it'll have to be modified or you would need a MKI RS1600 or a MKII RS1800. Used to be a bit of a Ford man Jon Quote
hogman Posted March 7, 2003 Author Posted March 7, 2003 Hey Juansolo Thats a good idea, come and join the fun at Cadwell, plenty of "Power Fords" and lots of nice Westies there too! Shall I put yer name down??? Hey Jon, put that anorak away now, you are ruining all that street cred you have for having that V8 beast!!! Cheers Kevin Quote
juansolo Posted March 7, 2003 Posted March 7, 2003 I sit corrected on the BDA. Still love Escorts though (proper ones that is) and still gutted that I didn't buy David Brown's caged up and turbo'd Mk2 RS2000 that was it top nick and was b******* all money. Would have been a great airfield car Cadwell is a possiblity as I do have a old Ford fetish... I'll have a ponder on that one. Quote
