I think you may need to press some more buttons for us mere mortals to be able to do that. I have an option to remove my customisations but not to add new ones

Have you gone intlo My Settings - Profile Customisation?

Err I've gone into customisation and there is no option to change it. It has the title and a sentence saying this allows you to change the background but no boxes I have a save changes button though and remove customisation.

I get:

Profile Background

This page allows you to customize your profile background. These customizations will be shown to all members visiting your profile page.

But then just a remove and a save settings button.
