windy Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Anyone know of a good pinstiper local to Herts? Painting a triumph bonneville at the moment and want someone to do the oldskool style pinstipes to finish it off. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I thought you buying a suit and braces for a second. If you call Ian Blumell he may know. Lives in Harpenden. 01582 832 537 used to do welding until he retired but restores bikes now. He is also the man to ask about home tig welding kits .. He researched alot before selling his industrial unit and buying one for his home workshop. That's his home number so don't call too late. Alternatively go to the classic on common next Wednesday - normally lots of the classic bike clubs turnout. Quote
SteveD Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 wendy try a local narrowboat place ,they usually have a good signwiter etc , or we have decals/stripe that will do it Quote
blankczechbook Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 thought you can undercoat in the pinstripe colour then mask the pinstripe.. blow over the main colour and hey-ho you have your pinstripe... saw one like this very recently.. v.neat. Quote
windy Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 wendy try a local narrowboat place ,they usually have a good signwiter etc , or we have decals/stripe that will do it Ha Ha, I'll end up with flowers and a pair of jugs. On second thoughts jugs on a bike could be quite a good thing!!!! Quote
SteveD Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 seriously wendy it aint that hard all you need is some 3m fine line tape , they do it in different thicknesses ,get the thin stuff it will go round sharp angles ,mask the twin stripes on the tank ,then either mask the reast of the tank out and blow some colour on or if you want it authentic brush it on then remove the masking and re laquer the tank ,simples or if you want me to do it get it to me though i like jugs Quote
