shaun Posted January 13, 2003 Posted January 13, 2003 The Bird In Hand is a delightful Country Inn with a history that spans 600 years. When you step through our doors you catch a glimpse of the past... and walk in the footsteps of King George III. Parts of our charming building date back to the fourteenth century and, even though it has grown considerably since then, it retains that special old English character. Local legend has it that, in the late 1700's, George III was one of our more famous visitors. While riding in Windsor Great Forest his horse threw a shoe and the King's party sought out the forge which was next door. In gratitude for the hospitality shown them while they waited at this tavern, a Royal Charter granted the proprietor the right to serve wine and beer day and night. Although this particular licence no longer exists, our aim as proprietors for the last thirty years, has been to give all guests a Royal welcome. If you like the sound of this then that is good.... because... this is where Thames Valley will be meeting from Sunday 9th February the date of our next meeting. The location is simple - about a 100 yards up the road from the Devil Inn heading towards Reading (next door to Chrysler Jeep) The landlady Natasha is quite nice as well BIRD IN HAND WEBSITE Quote

shaun Posted January 13, 2003 Author Posted January 13, 2003 So where is she.........all I could see was a bloke behind the bar....... The bloke behind the bar thinks she looks like a pint of Guiness. I was gob smacked (no puns) when I met her on Sunday. Dressed in a smart black jacket and skirt, black tights, - blond hair, tall and slim, late twenties, early thirties, and not bad looking either. The pub wasn't bad which is the real reason for the the new Thames Valley venue Quote

But the question is, does she like Westies, and is her car park big enough for all of us to come in? Well, if my new engine is going properly by then I'll be there. Quote
Blatman Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 does she like Westies, Who cares. As long as she likes regular, paying customers, we should be OK.......... Quote
SEiGHT Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 Well the Westie is almost back on the road again ! Just started it up (after chargine battery and refilling tank) and after a bit of chugging its ticking over fine. Only problem is I still don't have a job (4 months !!! ), so can't afford to run it anywhere If I don't get one soon, the Westie will have to go Quote
Chris Elworthy Posted January 14, 2003 Posted January 14, 2003 and is her car park big enough for all of us to come in? Caution - very slippery in Car Park. Quote
