david.c Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Hi Guys I'm determined to get to at least one of the speed series events this year, as I left it a bit late in the season last year. So my question is ............from a spectator point of view which ones do you recommend? I live in Hazlemere, Bucks, so bear that in mind. Also, we are often in Bath (the place) at weekends, so that area could be a possibility. Thanks in advance for your advice. Cheers David Quote
Mark Stanton Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 Check out the list on the website and next magazine for venues The only ones where spectators are not allowed / restricted are Boscombe (as its MOD property) and MIRA because there may be secret test cars on site that public aren't allowed to see Most venues are either free or charge a nominal fee and good to watch. Get yourself up to Curborough for June 21/22 Take your car, skid lid and tent have a play on the circuit Saturday then stay over for Sunday and maybe do some marshalling - you can't get any closer than that Quote
Steve Robinson Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 ....sorry this isnt my dad, i am at home. Its I.S.M. Get to Curborough, dads letting me take camper and car etc - he ll be on holiday! Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasive party!!! Wikid But dont tell him. Quote
david.c Posted January 24, 2003 Author Posted January 24, 2003 So.....Curborough is the overwhelming majority. Thanks to you both for answering thought I might have had a few more replies maybe everyone else agrees with you Where abouts in the country is it? Looked in my road atlas, and can't find anywhere called Curborough Cheers David Quote
Blatman Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 North of Litchfield, west of the A38, near a place called Fradley..........It's an ex RAF area, IIRC, so it may not appear on every map......... Quote
david.c Posted January 24, 2003 Author Posted January 24, 2003 Cheers Blatters.............found it now. Looks about 2 hours from me I guess. Are there others you can recommend aswell? I know you gave me a few suggestions when I asked late last year. Cheers David Quote
Blatman Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Also, there are Speed Series rounds at Goodwood and Lydden Hill (alright, Lydden isn't that close to Bucks I know, but hey...) Quote
Blatman Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Cross posting malarkey........ There's also Boscombe Down, BUT, you have to arrive with a driver, and viewing is quite limited. For seriously south, there's Wiscombe Hill, near Honiton in Devon. Curborough in June is "our" do though, and has always been pretty good. Camp over Saturday as Mark said, it's a blast...... Quote
