Conehead Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 (edited) Well you'll all be glad to know its done it again!!! The oil hose sheared off on the m4 today luckily is sunny while I'm now sat on the side of the motorway. Also I managed to kill the engoine before it did any damage phew! s2rrr Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Will be interesting to know why but bad luck anyway lets hope nothing terminal this time. Bob Quote
Conehead Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 After the AA's priority pickup off the side of the M4 which took 2.5 hrs I have had time to inspect the damage through all the oil. Oil bloomin everywhere as it seems the hose had split just underneath the outlet from the oil filter. Luckily I still had oil in the car so have managed to avoid damaging the engine. I am wondering if the hose is the right spec for oil as it is much softer than the others and seems to be very pliable when hot. I do recall that it had been loosening its self recently and I have been tightening it up. I think the rubber had warped and left very little between the clip and the joint causing it to break. I will be taking the fittings to Pirtek tomorrow morning to get them to make a proper hose up so should still be good for Wednesday. Quote
s2rrr Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I would include all oil hoses in your replacement regime, just in case. Bob Quote
