jonjh1964 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 From the IVA forum there is lots of comments about setting up the speedo. I've got the instructions from the ETB Instruments website http://etbinstruments.com/ but need to know how many pulses to set. I will have the standard speedo with front wheel sensor and 205/50 tyres on 15" wheels. Quote
KugaWestie Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Have a click on the link below, and then multiply the revolutions per mile by the number of bolts your sensor is reading from http://toyotires.com/tires/passenger/full/PX4/101?order=field_tire_tiresize_value&sort=asc Simples Quote
dicky attridge Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 hi make sure you iva centre has powered rollers unlike bevelery or you have to have documentation of how you did it Quote
jonjh1964 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 Rattridge - Lots of owners have mentioned the same problem due to the sensor being on the front wheel. For documentation does than mean printing out the relevant sheets and writing down the calculations do do I need it "officially" from Westfield? Jon H Quote
CL290005 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I set mine up using a sat nav, then adjusted the figures by trial and error after using a figure from a calculation, if you are driving to the IVA then you can check it this way Quote
dicky attridge Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 take you sat nav with you to iva also check it with another car with cruise control if possible ,hope all goes well ,also check your emission at 3000 revs mine failed badly until i drilled a 4mm hole in the butterfly Quote
Rhett Turner - Black Country AO Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I Phoned the factory when I was told that they would not be able to pass due to not being able to ratify the speed, to say I was shocked was an understatement. Spoke to Mark who spoke to the tester and he faxed a doc through. I had to bring up and show him the setting on the speedo he confirm that it matched the setting on the Westfield supplied document and it was accepted. you can workout the setting easily. number of revolutions per mile (900 for a 205/50 R15 Toyo) multiply by the number of studs (4) = 3600. To set hold the button on the speedo down and turn on the ignition (keep it held down) the display should alternately show AUtOCL, PULSE or AdJuSt - release the button when it displays PULSE The display should show the current setting. I think from memory 6000 was the default,. the "10"s column will flash (the "1"s is always 0) immediately using the button select the desired number once selected stop pushing and after a couple of seconds the next digit will flash, continue until the correct setting is shown. Then wait for the display to revert to the mileage. (i did not do this and when I first drove it the speedo was way out) To show the setting the the examiner follow the same process but don't change anything. Good luck with the test. Quote
jonjh1964 Posted June 23, 2012 Author Posted June 23, 2012 Rhett, Many thanks - Mark said the factory use 3650 or 3660 to ensure an over read - I'll ask Mark to send the sheet to me hopefully the Exeter or Bristol test centres will accept it, although IVA is still just a distant dream!!! Many thanks for the blog - anything new to add? on ownership Jon H Quote
