Buzz Billsberry Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Hi all Just a query really just cleanin g the old c drive up etc and there a hugh amount of data in 'Compress old files' What would happen if I tick this box?? do I loose the data or does it do as it says compress the file its in?? will the files(what ever they are) be accessible again? etc or should I just leave well alone? Dibby Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 It'll be fine, it's like zipping. It looks for files that haven't been accessed in - say - the last year and zips them up. Data is still accessible, all you will notice is the file names go blue and they might take slightly longer to access because the computer has to unzip them when it wants access to them. For a good cleanup tool, have a look at CCleaner to clean cookies, temporary internet files and all the bumph that gathers behind Windows. Quote
