Geoff101 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Hello, Does anyone have a set of good quality Westfield sized 3 point harnesses that they would like to sell me? Black preferred but red would also be OK. Must be in very good condition with no damage. Road and possible track day use only. Must be bolt in lap belts. Top doesn't matter but I'll need eye bolts if they're clip ons. I currently have a set of Sabelt ones but I can't get them adjusted right on the shoulder straps as they seem to be too long. I'm not exactly tiny but they're always too loose which doesn't seem like a great idea! Cheap as you can please as funds are very limited. Thanks Geoff
Captain Colonial Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 If you're coming to Curburough, my red belts will be there in the Auto Jumble with all profits going to charity.
corsechris Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Hi Geoff, I'm just about to convert from Willans 4-points (rigged as 3 point on our car) to inertia belts. The ones I'll be taking out are in perfect condition. Black. ...and the next question! Anyone know where to get some suitable inertia reel belts other then Westfield? ...and having just rung Westfield....I find it's not so simple, as usual. They no longer do the old style roll-bar mounted jobs. Current practice for inertia belts seems to be to mount them on the chassis at the back behind the bulkhead. Given I have only just finished rebuilding the car, that's not an option. CBS seem to do something promising....but now I think back, ISTR that I had problems with the new style hood frame fouling on the body of the reel which could be why I went to harnesses in the fist place. b*******.
Geoff101 Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Cap'n - I won't be able to make Curborough. Chris - are you offering to sell your 4 points? Did you just clip both shoulder straps onto one eye bolt?
Captain Colonial Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 If mine don't go at Curborough, and you still need them, we can discuss it then.
corsechris Posted May 31, 2012 Posted May 31, 2012 Cap'n - I won't be able to make Curborough. Chris - are you offering to sell your 4 points? Did you just clip both shoulder straps onto one eye bolt? Hi Geoff, As long as I can find some suitable inertia reels, yes. They are 4 point, but the upper straps both hook onto a single central eye-bolt making them effectively a 3-point. I find them perfectly comfortable but Vickie isn't keen...and it's her car as you know, so I need to try and sort it.
Geoff101 Posted May 31, 2012 Author Posted May 31, 2012 Chris - my mate is just removing the inertia reel ones off his '93 wide. On that, the reel sits behind the bulkhead behind the seats i think and there is a boss on the chassis rail at the top of the bulkhead for the top mounting point. If that's any use, I can ask if he'll sell them.
corsechris Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Thanks for that Geoff....but I still have the old inertia reels I took off I think - I might find I can use them. Hope to have a look at this this weekend. Wasn't looking so can't recall if there are any fittings for a reel behind the bulkhead on our car. Will consult the photographic record..... Don't want to have to do any mods if I can avoid it, but it might be the only way.
corsechris Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Still not done owt about ours Geoff. Bought some new inertia belts but have yet to fit them Lacking motivation at the moment.
corsechris Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Right, nearly there.....had a bit of a ponder of the belt problem on Saturday and the inertia reels I bought will fit fine, just need some longer bolts and spacers for the belt guides...which are on order...so, if you are still looking for harnesses, I will shortly (hopefully next week) have a pair of black Willans short sholder strap harnesses, excellent condition. They have bolt-in bottom fixings and snap in top fixings, eye & plain bolts included. Not aero-buckle type. PM me if interested. Chris
