Hi everyone i'm a new member, just joined up today.

A little bit about me;

My name is Tom McMillan, i'm 24 and live in Brigg, North Lincolnshire with my partner Hannah. I'm a gas engineer at British Gas, worked there for 7 years now. Ever since i can remember i've been into my cars, previously i've owned a mini cooper s, ford focus st-2 and ford focus rs mk2.

In October 2011 i decided to sell my focus rs after 19 months of ownership, it was a brilliant car but i was using it as a daily driver and track toy. I did 7 track days in the 19 months and decided it was getting a bit too expensive to keep. I was a member of the focusrsoc.com which is the first and only members forum i've been a member of until now. I'm looking forward to meeting some new people and hopefully doing some more track days and coming along to some meets.

My Westfied;

In December i purchased my bright orange Westfield Megablade. I've not yet figured out how you post pictures on this forum yet but when i do i will post some up. The car was built at the Westfield factory by Steve Lane in 2008. It has the 893cc fireblade engine with a 6 speed sequential gear box and full rollcage. Every time the sun has been out i've been out in my car, i absolutely love it! I was very much looking forward to doing some track days and coming to some meets this summer but last weekend everything went wrong. I was out for a leisurely drive when the engine went bang, so i'm currently on the look out for a Honda CBR900 Fireblade engine. So for the time being my Westfield is off the road!

Cheers, Tom

Hi Tom

Welcome to the club! Sorry your engine went pop, but maybe your next step is to post a request for a new one in Parts Wanted.

You'll be getting a little something from me in the post in the next week or two.

Hope you're back on the road soon!

Cheers,

Scott

My lump is 12 years old now done 13k but runs sweet, touch wood! I check it over weekly and watch levels etc but you never know! Plenty lumps about, could even by a front end damage and break it?

Loads of helpfull, knowledgable peeps on here...

Pictures are dead easy, I use photobucket, sign up, then load up. Move over your pic and click on the IMG box, copy, flip to here and paste away!

Dave,

Thats a nice looking car mate!

I'm not sure what caused it, it was only in the garage about a month ago getting a dyno jet and setting up on the rollers because it was running lean. 12k miles is nothing on 13 year old engine is it, the only thing with my engine is we don't know what the mileage was before it went on the car. So with the engine being 19 years old it could be really high. I spoke to the builder and he told me he went for the older 893cc engine as it meant the car wouldn't need a catalytic converter for the SVA.

I've found a couple of bike breakers not far from me so i'm going to talk to them and try and source a decent low mileage engine, unless i find one somewhere else of course.

Signed up to that photobucket and it seems to have worked, cheers.

TBH, that's one of the advantages of bike engines, you get a tuned engine "feel" as standard, (compared to a car engine), plus a sequential box. And if you do bend it or break it, you don't have a huge investment in engine tuning to right off. You just go out and get another of the same to swap in.

Nice looking car by the way!

Great looking cars Tom! Nice plate too!

You could try locost builders forum and cbrbladers forum loads of helpful chaps there too.

Wish you were nearer would of loved to help with the engine swap just incase I need to tackle mine one day, good luck with the hunt!

Yes this is the car from Chichester, 270 miles away from where i live!

I fell in love with it as soon as i saw it on ebay and arranged to go down and see it, saw it and put a deposit down for it. He was a really nice guy and delivered the car to my house free of charge as he didn't want to to risk me damaging it by transporting it myself, which i thought was really good as some people wouldn't give a dam as long as they get the money off you
