adamnreeves Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Just need to get it on track now Adam to see how it handles , do you fancy Cadwell on the 21st ! I saw you had posted on this thread and before I read what you put, I though I bet Matt is going to say get it on the track. I'd love to but cannot get time off work at the moment. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 The factory wide track is very good, as is the Siltech kit. I' had a Rally Design wide track arrive in the post on the Saturday morning, thought it was poor - badly made and finished, and had it sold by the afternoon. Quote
adamnreeves Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 wide track which helps add also helps add a bit of stability back Yes, I did notice this on mine. It's as if the roll originating from the front is transferred to the back and that reducing roll at the front reduces roll at the rear. Quote
matt nossiter Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Thats a shame Adam , you'll have to get booked up for Anglesey when we do it in July .... thats if Chris pulls his finger out and stops messing about removing and refitting his engine and box Quote
Pete A Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Thanks for all the advice. Need to start saving. Quote
matt nossiter Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 how you getting on Chris , two steps forward this weekend ? , Re - my handling problems , dont know how much difference the setup made , we were definatley going faster this time at Bedford than last time hitting all the apex's and carrying good corner speed , but it could be that its a track bricktopper and me have done a few times so feel comfortable with as opposed to the setup improving it . Mark (smokey mow) Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Some will say that Wide track is not necessary for the road but I would disagree with that. Wide track made a substantial difference to mine: 1) Centre of gravity was lowered making the car more stable 2) ....... Err the centre of gravity will stay at exactly the same height when fitting widetrack, only adjusting the spring platforms or moving components around the car will lower CofG. I think it may be the roll centre you're getting confused with which will be lowered with a wider track. Quote

Thought some smart alec would come along and pick up on some points I made No idea what a roll centre is, sorry. In my way of thinking and trying to explain what I feel is that a wider stance lowers the CofG and most people can understand what a lower CofG gives you. One thing is for sure though, it's worth doing This thread has drifted to another similar thread on here. Quote
