Ot - What Van ?

We have a fleet of over 300 vans and have tried various types. The mid range vans we have transporters and laterly Vivaro's both of these are proving to be very good all round vans. We do intergalatic mileages in three years and there have been no major issues with either makes. A lot of the vans are now very much the same. the Vivaro is same as the nissan and a renault, the new vauxhall small van is a fiat doblo. we have had Mercs and VW's fpr the bigger vans and the Merc is not as good as the VW version which is basically the same van.

If you were buying from an auction and anything that is peppermint green will be ex FPS and even with high mileages they are serviced fastidiously and make a good buy.

OK, it's just we have a customer who may get you 30% discount. No promises, it depends on the availability.

Would ideally like a VW Transporter , but it all depends on price , but must be  a medium sized ( short wheelbase Transit size ) van .

Thanks

I've just down sized from a Vivaro to VW Caddy Maxi.I was orginally looking at a Transporter, but they seem to fetch ridiculous money!  :suspect:   :suspect:

The caddy is sooooooo much better than the Vivaro! Has the 2.0 tdi engine and has loads of grunt but is doing much better MPG van the Vivaro! Not done a decent motorway run yet, but around the doors I'm getting about 40mpg.

Its towing capcity is 1500 Kg as well so you should be able to get a Westie and trailer Combo no problem.

Hope thats of some help.

I have a transit 350 medium/medium, 90 hp 2.4 D.

Pulls ok with car on the back (Two cars if you look at the front cover of this months WW  )

I would suggest the 115 hp is the better option for towing but i would personally stick with the RWD version.

As for fuel consumption i'm frightened to look or work it out  :d , It has to do a lot of things at the end of the day and i just have to fill it up as required.

The duel mass clutches can be a pain in the  :arse:  and cost around seven hundred to get fixed.

Not a bad van generally for the price........

I could not warrant paying the extra money for the VW or Merc TBH when the transit does all i need it to and anyway they just get covered in crap just the same as the Ford.

All depends on your wallet at the end of the day  :)

These are new, white and can usually get 30% off.

I'll ring him Monday and see what stock they have. They do BB's with the manufacturers, hence the discounts.

I had considered these before but am I right in thinking they haven't got 3 seats in the front ? , it would be a bonus to have seating for 3 but not essential .

type pre reg van in google and loads will come up with £5 to £6k off list

I was tempted by a swb vivaro for 10,350 + VAT that the dealer near me had 6 of to shift.

I have had a renault trafic for 4.5 yrs now and a vivaro for three years before that. Apart from a air flow sensor earlier this year ive had no problems at all. I currently have the Trafic sport 115bhp. Superb van, goes like a rocket and tows the westie and trailer no probs, even at 100+mph :d

I'll be changing mine in April next year at circa 11K-12K i dont think you can find better vans for the money.... I'll certainly be considering another one..

MPG isnt great, and mines dropped in the last couple weeks, but I cant fault them.

Afraid you're right Matt, only got the two seats.

Darrell, either I got the unlucky one or the 90bhp ones are pants, but I had a whole list of problems with mine, was an absolute nightmare! And definitely didn't go like a rocket either!   :( About its only two redeeming factors was it handled very well for a van of it size and it got warm quickly!  :o

The Caddy on the other hand definitely does!!   :d

Each gotta speak as we find.

My 90bhp Vivaro was'nt a bad van. My 115bhp trafic goes like stink and how i have'nt lost my licience i do not know... it'll crusie at 80-90mph all day long... Roof rack, pipe carrier, 3/4 ton of tools in the back and even having the trailer up doesnt make a difference. Comfy, drives like a car and even the SWB is big in the back (carries a 8x4 sheet on its flat.

Maybe Im lucky, and maybe it'll all go wrong soon, but i wouldnt be afraid to buy another.
