Pipe Connector For Windscreen Washer

Recommended Posts

The pipe for my windscreen washer goes under the panel over the gearbox, up inside the scuttle and connects to the washer nozzle. This needs to be disconnected when I take the scuttle off. At the moment I have a straight connector about 3" down from the nozzle. I can pull a hose off (and put it back on again) with some difficulty but I'd like something easier. Something like those Hozelock fittings for garden hose but for 4.7mm tubing would be just the job but I can't find one to buy anywhere. Aletrnatively I could re-route the hose out of the front of the scuttle with a bulkhead connector and then route it down through the panel. At least I could get at it easily.

Anyone got any ideas?? Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

If you have a windscreen you have to have washers for the IVA, is this a requirement for the MOT too? Can you just take them off?

To be honest, windscreen washers on a Westfield are as useful as a dangler flavoured lollypop

I know on quite a lot of motorbikes, they fit self sealing quick release connectors to the fuel pipe from the tank. Might be a bit big for what you want but could be worth a look.

Something like this? http://www.mx5parts....aign=googlebase

So you can pull the tubing apart?

I've got something like that already but it's tucked up inside the scuttle and difficult (for me anyway) to push together properly. It's a tight fit. As I say I would like something that clicks together easily like the garden hose jobbies but for 4.7mm tubing not hose pipe.

Great minds think alike. Called into an aquarium place yesterday but no luck. I think I'm just going to extend the tubing so I can get at it without having to turn myself the wrong way round and inside out. Just need to make sure that it doesn't squirt water over the ecu and all the rest of the wiring!!

Thanks chaps - Rory's Dad

If you look at external aquarium filters (that live outside the tank) they have watertight quick release connectors on but they are a fair bit bigger bore than you're looking for.

Don't know if suitable or whether the sizes are available but take a look at festo fittings you may be able to do something with those I used to run kerosene through them without problem so water should be a doddle.
