Young Pretender Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Can anyone tell me what the approximate weight of a Brian James Clubman is please? I can't find this info on their site. Also from those with experience in towing, is it wise to tow very close to the cars unbraked towing specification? Is it very unwise to exceed this? Thanks Mark Quote
GeordieBarry Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I would have thought that as it is a Brian James trailer it will have brakes and therefore you can tow up to the vehicles towing capacity. Unbraked it is usually 750kg which includes the weight of the trailer. I believe that the manufatures plate should have the unladen weight on it. Below is a link I use for kerbweights which also gives towing capacity: http://www.cuddles.abelgratis.net/kerbweights.htm Normal recommendation is 85% of kerbweight which the site gives but this is just a recommedation and not a legal requirement. Hope that this helps Quote
Young Pretender Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks Barry, I didn't realise they had brakes, strangely didn't see any reference to this on their site. Probably not looking hard enough. Cheers Mark Quote
SootySport Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 If you have a look at BJ site the weights and sizes are in Price and Specifications pages. Quote
Young Pretender Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 ok thanks. I'm being a bit slow here no doubt but looking at said prices and specs is the gross cap minus the load cap the actual trailer weight? http://www.brianjames.co.uk/pdf/BJT2012q1VT_PriceListprintreadyv6_1.pdf Quote
peterg Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Yes, my PRG Sport (14ft x 6ft bed with high level tyre rack) was around 400kgs as an example of approx weight for that size trailer. Quote
AdamR Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 I have a Clubman, twin axle, 5'8 bed I think (small anyway, only about 1" room for my Westy!), its 373kg with winch and no tyre rack Quote
