Cant agree with you more John. Mine are just sitting in the garage since I changed them to AO32r's. I do know that the avons are standard fit on factory spec cars unless blade or busa which have AO's

Mind you I would think he would be alot safer with the Avons. Very Very Very progressive, actually they start to lose grip if any lateral G is applied at all  :D  :D.

It also looks like its on 15" wheels. Why??????

This months "Motor Sport" has an advert

The most famous E type in Britain. Star of Discovery Televison's a Car is Reborn

This immaculate 1965 Series 1 roadster has undergone a complete no expense spared refurbishment costing over £65000 and is now offered for sale OIRO £55000

What the **** is OIRO (oirish punts?) :D

Do you think they will ask £25,000 for the Westfield?  :p

ZV1s....fantastic tyres... :D

I've done 17,000 miles on mine now and still got almost full tread :0 I have no idea what they are made of, but it aint rubber.

Agree with the lateral G comment, they do not like cornering at all, which is nice...

I had worked it out, but was keeping a low profile  :(

Trust you to point out my ignorance  :D

I just thought it was an interesting coincidence that the E -type was up for sale at this time. It would be interesting to know what it finally sells for. :xmas:

Oooops ......... You really MUST use the 'Edit' facility to protect your good name when you perform a faux pas on line!

Having seen it being built, I don't think that particular one would be on my shortlist ......

Anyone know where I can get hold of the chequered flag stickers on that car, or something similar?

I would have thought that would be a good reason to consider buying it - at the right price.

At least you know what's underneath! I wouldn't buy any 'restored' car without seeing pictures of it down to a bare metal (ie rust) shell for starters.

Given that other similar cars are/were on the market for £65k, £55k may be the right price.

Old man's car anyway.

You are right of course - I'm just letting my prejudice against the 'dumming down' of what could have been a much more 'serious' (and therefore, IMHO a more enjoyable) program show through! When the nunney hit the wing and dented it, I nearly turned off. Similarly, it took the re-transmission of the 'A Car is Born' series for me to watch it - seeing him sitting cross legged on the bonnet of his own car and then kicking the door mirrors off the donor car to get it to fit in the garage was sufficient to turn me off the program before it got started!  :arse:

I guess he does get a bit carried away with the 'fun' side of it.

I would have liked a bit more detail on how things were actually done, rather than going off to Knock Hill to see the bald guy thrash some poor mugs pride and joy round the track. Those bits could make a program of their own - 'A Classic Car Is Killed'. The looks on some of the owners faces were worth it though.

You hardly saw any of the engine rebuild for example and I don't remember anything happenning to the gearbox either.

Looking forward to seeing the next series though.
