Hopefully going up on the Sunday. I went last year and it did appear a bit disorganised. Kit cars all over the place but only by the grace of God were they in any sort of order.

BTW. Thanks for organising the rolling road session last Saturday. I've been crying in my beer ever since at the lowly bhp figures I achieved.

1 - Is there an official club presence / area at this showplanned this year ? (see report on last years show : "club areas organisation was haphazard and is an aspect of the show that could be improved in 2002")

Volunteers take one pace forward and contact any other  WSCC Committee (not me though please)

2 - IS anyone going ?

Not me, been there, seen it, done it, and the T-shirt was bl**** expensive  ;)  :D  :)  :p

Went last year, mainly for some cheap track-time on the national circuit. Some interesting cars there, including some hideous cork-based thing and the usual masses of chrome.

The show is good with all the major marques and component manufacturers attending, the car parks are full of the usual interesting array of cars with many for sale.

The track time can be quite hectic. The factory cars (Megabusas) were in attendance, receiving many official complaints for their driving standards.

But this is generally the state of things on track, you'll have factory drivers trying to demonstrate how quick the cars are in a very short space of time, together with first-timers out on track testing their cars. It leads to mayhem where courtesy and patience is most definetly required (but sadly not shown by many present that day).

I'm not botherining this year, we're off to another show that weekend, one that may even have a lower standard of driving and cars more hideous than that cork thing LOL

Good idea Chris - then by lunchtime on Saturday once you've seen all there is at Donington you can be safely propped up by the bar in Matlock  :)  :D  :p  ;)      :D  :)  ;)  :p

DARLEY DALE en masse!...this is sounding good. If you want to make it official drop me a line with your address and will send you a pass "with a number on it"! Otherwise just turn up at the exhibitors gate and I will tell the girls there to expect a few Westfield’s and send you in.

Overnight camping is free for exhibitors and lots of folk come as early as Thursday, sit beside their "chugging engines" and don't go home till Monday! It always amazes me how the rally grows from bare fields on a Tuesday morning to a glowing, thriving village by the Friday night. By that time I'm usually knackered, the beer tent is in full swing and the show hasn’t even started. Come and marshal for me if you can. (free tea and buns in hospitality tent if you do!;)

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I am sure what Mr. Cooke( It beats me why some of you guys can't post with without using an alias!!;) is doing up at Darley Dale is to be commended and supported by those that are inclined that way.

Nonetheless......there will be WSCC members who will want to go to Donnington and expect a club presence there.

If we are to arrange an area outside the exhibhition hall for 60 or so cars we ought to have some sort of representation there. ie an easy-up and bodies. It will do relations no good at all if we ask for our own area and clear off on mass on Saturday. If anyone is interested in helping out with this then please get in touch with me. I have contact numbers for Limelight management and am happy to talk to them unless someone else feels more suited/enthusiastic/senior.

I also feel it serves no purpose to slag off Limelight and the Donnington show just for the sake of it.

Either we make a decision to support members who want to attend Limelight events and get on with it or we distance ouselves completely and make it clear to all members especially the new ones who will not be aware of previous bad experiences!!

It is at local level that a lot of the questions get asked as to why nothing has been arranged.

Get out there and go for it. sort it and attend if you want to  ;)  :D  :)

It's a free country with a free choice  :)  :D  ;)  Limelight will always be able to provide space for any individuals or club that attend - thats what their business is all about   ;)  :D  :)

Any volunteers to sort out a club stand   :D  :)  ;)  :D  :)  ???

Area Organisers provide an official presence at many car shows - any volunteers for Donny ? Go for it.

You’ve gone and blown my cover now Gary! How can I curse and swear without everyone knowing who I am now? Hope Donington is a good show and that volunteers to organise the Westfield stand are knocking on the door as we write. Wish I could help out myself.

My invite to DARLEY DALE was a bit “tongue in cheek” I must admit but it is for a good charity and we all work hard all year to put on a super show so the more the merrier. Gives those a chance that might be interested in all things mechanical, not just kit cars, to have a day with us.

Just to increase your interest I can tell you of some of the Bygone and Model exhibits that will be on show.. How about a” Knitted” model of Nottingham Goose Fair  or a collection of cast iron tractor seats !! Can’t wait myself. We also have of course dozens of stalls, plenty of great old cars, bikes and steamers etc. to compensate so you won’t be disappointed.

I'm hoping to get to Donnington, but it's a bit early to be sure yet.

Garry.

You can certainly count on my support with anything that may need doing on whichever day I attend, if I attend, and assuming you can get me off the track for long enough....... :)

And remember Donington only has 3 n's  :D  :)  ;)  :D
