I'm considering it (it's only 5 miles away for me).  One disadvantage is that the track will have some long straights on it which could be a bit boring.  AFAIK it's going to be over 4 miles long!

There's also a WSCC track day there on 20 August  ;)  :D  :)  ;)  You can download a form from above  ;)  :D  :)

I know it's a bit of a journey but why not try the TVR track day at Oulton Park on the same day.

See my post Oulton Park

Oulton Park is a great track :D  with plenty of great corners and the straights aren't too long.

What ever you decide have a great day.

last time i was at elvington there was a track laid out with cones.

but on the TVR track day it was just the 2 straights. :(

I went to Elvington with bookatrack in april, don`t know about wether the same layout, but twisty track with a couple of med (110-115mph) straights. :D

I had a fantastic day, would recommend it thoroughly,

An ideal first trackday, with loads of run-off, and if the weather turns to sh*t even better for chucking it about with nothing to hit :D  :p   .

Only negative point is the concrete surface can be hard on tyres. ???

Still p******** off TVR drivers at oulton park sounds fun too :)  :t-up:  :durr:

From Jonny at BookaTrack regarding the 4 mile Elvington layout:

"i was getting just over 100mph in my standard elise. they're not massive straights, and we've added wiggles along the way so you dont get bored. anyone after straight line speed trials is looking in the wrong place im afraid."

So, the straights won't be too long, and there will be plenty of twisty bits. I would go if it wasn't so far away  ???

didn't elvington used to be really bad for pot holes?

...and how "car-wrecking-capable" are the current bumpy bits?

You're thinking of Oakington.  Elvington is ok, if a little hard on the tyres wear-wise.

AFAIK the wscc meet is at the far end of the track which has a much kinder surface.  Bookatrack tend to use the near end which is very abrasive.  I guess the 4+ mile circuit will cover both
