david.c Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 I want to go and see a round of the speed series and want to know where the closest event to me is? I live in Hazlemere, near High Wycombe in Bucks. Thanks to those in the know. David Quote
Blatman Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Hi David Nearest one to you (us) with public access will be Curborough........ Generally, there is no spectating allowed at North Weald, Boscombe is....er.....a challenge to get in to (even more so now, as it was yesterday! ), and Lydden is probably just as far if not further (for you) than Curborough....... From West London, Speed Series events in order of distance, would be something like; North Weald, Boscombe Down, Lydden/Curborough, Shelsley Walsh, Loton Park, LLandau, Wiscombe, then everything else is North of Stoke-on-Trent......... david.c Posted July 22, 2002 Author Posted July 22, 2002 Cheers Blatman I'm away on holiday for Curborough, and as it's my daughters birthday next weekend, it looks like my choice is down to the last 6 events. Should have thought about it earlier in the year Which one would you recommend? David Quote
Blatman Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 Gotta be Loton, Sunday 8th September. Ty Croes is milesandmilesandmilesandmilesandmiles......... North Weald can be tough to get in to. Not impossible, but I would go expecting to get turned away (although it's not that far that getting turned away is a problem. Just go for a blat....), Wiscombe is a schlep (near Honiton, in Devon.......), but a great hill, and Three Sisters is in the frozen north.......... Quote
david.c Posted July 22, 2002 Author Posted July 22, 2002 Thanks for the advice. Sounds like Loton it is then Will you be competing there? Cheers David Quote
ian crocker Posted July 22, 2002 Posted July 22, 2002 North Weald is easy to get in to if somebody gives you a pass. You could call them on your mobile when you arrive and they could pass one through the fence. It's a bit of a bleak venue though and spectating isn't great although you can see everything. Ian Quote
