chazpowerslide Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Hi Chaps. I have Word 2007 (DOC) and all my 2011 Stoneleigh docs are in Works (WPS) due to an upgrade from Vista to 7. I need to edit all of the 2011 stuff to make them current to 2012 but I can't open them. Have insalled on office the converter from microsoft "Works632_en-US.msi" which should allow the opening of Work (WPS) files in Word (DOC) I go to Office, click on the logo, go to "open" and find the file, click "open" on the document, choose "Works 6.0 -9.0" and hit open. I then get a dialog box open saying that I need a newer version of the Works 6.0 - 9.0 converter and when I check on-line it goes back to the same "Works632_en-US.msi" download which I already have, which does not work.................. It states that I should have windows installer 3.1 or higher on the system (I assume I have but how do I check) So chaps any suggestions on how I can open/edit/save as works documents on word without downloading some bit of crap off the net that comes with added toolbars and a whole hoast of other crap attached as a condition of the free download? TIA Chaz. Quote
MrG Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I haven't tried it myself, as I don't have any .wps files to hand, but have you tried the online converter at: http://www.zamzar.com/ Quote
pete275 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I think libreoffice can do it, certainly worth a try as its open source http://www.libreoffice.org Quote
Andy Banks Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Or OpenOffice openoffice.org. Or, phone me mate.... Quote
pete275 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I don't think open office can do it, certainly the version I've got can't. Could be wrong though. Quote
bhouse Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Chaz - I could probably convert it as we've got most versions of Word/Works ever released. PM me if you'd like to email it... Quote
