Fangi0 Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Sorry to ramble on on this one but I thought those who contributed to the thread might like these....... http://forum.sydenham.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5199 PS. I have physio on my shoulder here and when I told the gorgeous young physiotherapist that this was once a great little race circuit she said that some of the local lunatics still think it still is Quote

windy Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 This is my favourite video of the event. A replica of Gerry's car will be there for the sprint in May. Quote
Fat Albert Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Wow, that takes me back, those were the days Bev Bend, James Shunt & Ian Crashley... Quote
Fat Albert Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Do you remember the droop snoot Firenza Windy? Any Firenza of mine are Firenza of yours. My race debut (aged 19) at Oulton Park was in a Ray FF in 1973, deep in thought after a mid-field qualifying performance miles off the pace I walked past the competitors 'grandstand' (a few planks on scaffolding) where Gerry was sitting watching the practice surrounded by cronies and fellow car dealers theivers who included my older brother, he yelled out my name followed by "Do you know Shaw's" naif that I was I responded, "What's Shaw's", Gerry's "A pint of Best son" response was accompanied by gales of laughter from his acolytes Git Quote
windy Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Yes droop snoot Firenzas - colleague at work has a very special one - it is called Silver Bullet (it is actually a Magnum estate). One of Wayne Cherry's babies which still survives to this day. I know Gerry's son Gregor - find him on facebook - he has some great stories to tell! Quote
