Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 F*****g, F*****g, F*****g Google, I hate Google at the best of times. This morning, it's Google in its Picassa form is boiling my p*ss. I thought I'd upload a pic from the Three Sisters sprint yesterday, fine no problem, picture uploaded. I go online to check its all there, yep no problem. But what do I spot, the entire f***** contents of the "not quite a winter rebuild" photos folder have gone and the damn folder is set to private. b*****k, not the first time I've had photos scrambled by Picassa in that folder, last time it was a load of file names getting corrupted somehow, it took over an hour to go through the thread and fix the dozen or so broken links. This time it's every photo. Don't know if I can face it yet again. Anyone know of a good on line photo host that allows bulk uploading, sorting by album/folder and easy linking to the Boardroom etc? westy turbo Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Photobucket does it....which i had issues with, but that was my fault... Quote
Captain Colonial Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Depends on how many photos and how big they are overall mate, but your ISP usually gives you some free hosting space, I think I have 30Gb with Virgin and use Filezilla FTP to upload all sorts of stuff there for access. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Right, fingers crossed they're back [/phew] Picassa seems to alter the file name/numbering somehow as pics are uploaded - this occasionally if you re-upload a photo to an album causes all the external links to some or all of those photos to break. Fortunately, I managed to delete the off line album on my PC, restore it from a backup and let it re sync to Picassa. It seems after a quick check of the original thread, to have put the photos back in the same order and with the external links still working. Don't know if i could have faced redoing all the links otherwise. Just trying to edit the thread into a more compact form is proving enough of a headache. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thanks Scott, have general on-line storage for other stuff, but really need proper managed stuff for the photos with reasonable access control/file management. The space required soon adds up too Will have a look at Photobucket. Quote
langy Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 8/10 for the rant and i use photobucket, but do have some issues with it Quote
Norman Verona Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 but, I bet you don't hate Google as much as I hate Paypal. Quote
