An Engineer I work with has just gone out there on a 2 year secondment, he must be mad wanting to work with those nutters

We used to be the sole importer for Hannah Car washes the US conveyer car wash system. We got an order to install one in Moscow. This was before perestroika. The kit was delivered to the site, our engineer had to fly there by a round about route due to the banning of direct flights over the US boycott over Russia's involvement in Afghanistan (should we remind the US of this?).

He went to site every morning to await the inspector who would give him a certificate to commence work. No inspector ever came.

After 3 months he came home. I never did find out if it ever got installed.
