pistonbroke Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 For £xxx (negotiable) you could paint the company name on the side of my Westy Quote
samcooke Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 last time i used yellow pages was to stand on or prop a door open. google is usually my first port of call or yell.com if its something local You can't even do that with it now it's so titchy. My village newsletter has more adverts in it. And you can forget standing on one to smooch a lanky 8 year old under the mistletoe, you'd not reach her chin. Quote

Not sure that's something you want to admit to on t'internet Sam I think you mean 18 year old... would be like kissing a granddaughter if I had one... I prefer age and experience though, they're more grateful!! Quote
AdamR Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 Forgot about this thread til now - had a quick scan through, but not read thoroughly, so I am sorry if this is repetition... but... I would usually think 'Who are my customers, and how would they search for what I am selling?'. Unless they are mostly computer illiterate, the answer is going to be Google. My business is 99% online sales, and all the 'print' advertising we've ever done (local magazines, national magazines, event programs, Yellow Pages, Thomson Local) has been either zero or very poor return. Online advertising I have also tried - the only one we continue is a very specific forum (like this one really) where we get something daft like 500,000 views for £70 a month. What seems to work best for us is making sure the website is ranking well on Google (and targeting specifically where and what you want to sell, rather than just 'wooly' keywords), and good old-fashioned word of mouth.
