Spl Meter

Bit of a long shot but does anyone have an SPL meter in the thames valley area (I'm in Reading) i could borrow for a day or two? I need to check my new car before a trackday this weekend. Been told by the previous owner that it was about 102dB, but 102 is the limit for the day and its a long drive only to be turned away.

Thanks

Tim

Thanks very much for the offer Martin, but that's halfway to the trackday :)

I'll try the hire shops in Reading tomorrow if no luck on here tonight. I've actually got all the gear for audio measurement here... just don't have a calibrator for the microphone to get true SPL. Once i borrow / rent a meter once and compare it to my kit, I should be set for life!

Thanks again

Thought the Thames valley group have one for members to borrow, suspect someone will advise but I see your not a wscc member so not sure if they will lend, sure someone will confirm

I am no longer a paid up member of the club as i have been 'car-less' for a number of years, but I would be happy to rent the tester from the club for a small fee (as opposed to a hire shop) if this sort of thing is permitted? Does anyone have the contact details for the Thames Valley Organiser? I was in living in Leeds when i was a member last.

Thanks

Hmmm, sorry I can't help but I know nothing of these things, anyway got me thinking...

Do these things need to be "profesionally" calibrated by a registered body or will one of these do?

Calibration requirements depend on the application... in this instance i just need a reasonably calibrated meter to 'calibrate' my measurement setup against. What you link to is exactly what i need... just don't really want to pay £35 for a one off use.

Would happliy donate a £5 to the WSCC or an individual for a day or two with a meter.

Just found the contact details for Thames Valley area, so have emailed them directly too.

Cheers

Tim
