TIG Brother Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Spotted this on eBay tonight. Seems to be quite a little gem. And deffinately enjoys the Westfield badge what do you think? http://bit.ly/GRvQIP Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Oooh a dashboard thread Pulls up a comfy chair, opens beer and reaches for popcorn Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Must...resist...urge...to...make...dash...references...! EDIT: Shakes fist at Smokey...beat me to it by seconds! Quote
TIG Brother Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Would just like to point out I said nothing about the dash. Quote
Ciprian Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 saw that on ebay earlier today, a bit too much Westfield for my taste. Specially the dash, epic fail imho. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 dunno about the dash or the blue detail on the carpet set - I guess that is personal choice so live and let live what I cannot understand is why build a new westfield with an out of date engine - surely would have cost no more (or very little) to stick a zetec or similar in it Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I couldn't possibly consider this car. No one would know what it is, the badges are so small. Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 What I can't understand is why you would build a car and then sell it? Even if it's the build they enjoy, why wouldn't you get it tested before selling? Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 There was a post about a build in the USA of a Caterham with a Cosworth "midget" engine and a special chassis (I seem to remember it was made from something other than mild steel). It looked amazing. The chap sold it unused when he'd finished it as he just got enjoyment out of the building not the driving - takes all sort I suppose or "Nowt so queer as folk" Of course this one may be because of financial difficulties. Doug Dastardly Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Would it not be worth a bit more tested and ready to go though? I would think most people in the market for a finished car want a roadworthy car, ready to go. Quote

I would think most people in the market for a finished car want a roadworthy car, ready to go. If nothing else the IVA would make it more saleable, and it looks nearly ready to test (although I can spot a couple of fails) Quote
markcoopers Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Well you would not forget what you were in would you.....even if you were under the bonnet Quote
SteveD Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 seems a lot of money for summat with a boat anchor under the bonnet and not registered Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 It's a very individual car, the builder obviously loves his choices, but when you make one quite so unique, it's going to affect the saleability... The lack of IVA is always the big money killer to me though. Even if the car is perfect, it's still a significant amount to add before you've got a road legal car. In reality though, you just don't know how much work you'll have to do. Worst case would be major strip down of the thing if something really basic is wrong. Personally, I'd always be knocking £1 - 2k off what it would have been worth fully registered, to cover this. Really do wish the seller the best of luck, but what a shame they can't just get it past that last hurdle, get it road legal and make it that bit more attractive to potential buyers. Quote
