V8grunt Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 The Moon, Venus just next to it, Jupiter to the right and below, and Mars as you look at them at about 9 O Clock ( to the left,) The red one! It's the end of the world you know! Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 HM goes outside every night to view the stars and planets. She'll be out tonight. Best time is after 11:00 pm when the street lights of the nearby villages are out. Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Just been dragged outside to look up at the sky. F A N T A S T I C The moon is so bright and so near I thought I could reach out and touch it. The stars and planets are the brightest I've ever seen them. However, on some nights I can see the milky way - a ribbon of dust directly above, but not tonight. Maybe it's too early. Quote
daverobs Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Managed to spot four moons of Jupiter, spectacular Quote
markcoopers Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 What you guys using to "look at the moon" with? No one say eyes Quote
V8grunt Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Norman..... there are NO lights in the sky where you live! :) Club Members...... Retain this data! If I remember, there where no lights at Team Stantons Gaff either. :t-up: :t-up: :t-up: Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Andrew, we have the village lights from the two villages we are between (Noellet and Armaille). Angers and Rennes would be the nearest big cities, about 40 miles away. The village lights go off about 23:00 and then the view is much better. Quote
V8grunt Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Are you having the weather we have here Norm? I so miss those French spring/early summer days and late evenings when you can sit outside a month before you can in Blighty . Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Yes, 22c in the shade and HOT in the sun. Right, back to sunbathing. Quote
SootySport Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Yes, 22c in the shade and HOT in the sun. Right, back to sunbathing. It's 22 in some places up in Scotland today and thats not Fahreheit. As for the streetlights Norman, everyone is whinging about them being turned off in the late hours to save money. I much prefer them out after midnight. As for the sky at night, yes, it's brilliant, lots to see. The daughter has an app. that shows whats up there. Quote
Norman Verona Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 HM goes on a website which shows same. I've had to come in to cool off. I was stripping an oak door of 100 year old paint but have stopped now and back to a book in the sun. All of 3 pages before I fall asleep. Quote
Andy Banks Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 It certainly was a sight last night, hoping for same tonight. Quote

Dibby Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Very nice, so clear you could see the rest of the moon last night. Might get the old camera out tonight if the skies stay clear Quote
