kirkyboy5 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I am sitting at work right now (not very busy as you can see) and I have been scratching my head about something. Next week I am getting rid of my Chrome rollover Bar and im having a Playskool RAC rollover bar fitted with one of their bootboxes desgined for use with their Rollover Bar. http://www.plays-kool.co.uk/acatalog/Composite_Part.html (third thing down) As you can see this fits round the Rollover bar, so the only way of getting this off is to take the rollover bar off. However, we are thinking about putting the spare tyre on the back for the summer and I was thinking that if the tyre needs changing how would we get to it? Before obviously you just remove rear boot box and then put the bolt on the big metal rods then fit the boot box back on and away you go. So now im getting the rollover bar and this above bootbox fitted will this mean that I will not be able to get to my spare tyre if needs be??? Sorry if this is a bit confusing but need help hahaha Thanks Kirky Quote
housebeautician Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Dan when you bought the car i gave you the fittings for the spare wheel carrier. All you have to do is to refit the bracket to the inside prior to the rac bar going on All the holes are there behind the westfield sticker. Once the bracket is on loosen the frame and slide it out, then fit the tyre as before. Give me a bell if you like Tony Quote
kirkyboy5 Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 ohhh I see what you mean Tony, okay then i'll have a look for it and sort it out! Will that be enough to hold the wheel's weight?? Cheers Dan Quote
housebeautician Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 The weight sits on the bottom frame and the bracket takes the two long SILVER bolts that hold the tyre back against the bodywork. Quote
kirkyboy5 Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 hahahahaha thats what these early morning shifts do for me hope your okay mate Quote
housebeautician Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 I'm ok Dan Look forward to seeing some piccys soon Quote

kirkyboy5 Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 Right...another question! The car is going into the garage next week. It is currently SORN'd and has no insurance and no MOT. I know the law about if a pre booked MOT is confirmed then this can be driven to the MOT centre. However the vehicle must also be taxed. But I cant Tax it because i havn't got a MOT document? What do i do? Dan Quote
Vinny's Westie Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Pre-booked MOT will be an exemption from Tax, so okay to drive on road to test. You must though have insurance to cover the vehicle. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 As Vinny said. The key bit is to make sure you have insurance! If you want to be extra cautious, you could make sure the garage makes a not of your reg. number against your MOT booking in their appointment book. Then it's just a case of driving to the garage for your MOT, again, if you want to be extra cautious, you could make sure you have insurance documentation on you as well. If you do take your insurance details, you can stop off at a Post Office on the way back and re tax it. Quote
kirkyboy5 Posted March 23, 2012 Author Posted March 23, 2012 yeh, found it now...schedule 2 of the vehicle excise and registration act 1994 provides definitions of certain excempt vehicles(from having tax) where they are to be used for testing purposes. similar provisions exist allowing vehicles to be exempt from a test certificate (MOT) Dan Quote
