CJspeedsport Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 How can I tell if I have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I've been speaking to a lot of useful people (the genisis of the idea being from Northampton Motorsports ) about my various issues and it's been widely agreed that I should be able to get my car running in a satisfactory manner with the injectors I have, and delivering power throughout the typical range of a 1.8 zetec (up to about 7000) by increasing the fuel pressure. However, I'm not sure if this is possible on my setup. Anyone any clues how I could tell? Quote
Mike H Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 I guess it depends on what your current regulator is. That determines what you can do with it or what you can replace it with without changing the entire fuel rail. FWIW I changed the regulator on my V8 hotwire fuel rail for one from a Porsche 944 (same shape) which took mine from 2.5 Bar up to 3.0 Bar. Mike Quote
dstorey Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Hello CJSpeedsport :-) A adjustable FPR normally has an adjusting nut at the top of the regulator rather than it being a sealed unit... (bottom left) I got this ebay special with a pressure gauge for around £25 from mcgill motorsport... PS Should add I've tidyed up my hoses since this pic was taken, no rough stainless braiding showing! Quote
johngill Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 My fuel reg has an adjuster on the top with a lock screw. When setting up the engine I was told the ECU had been mapped for a given pressure at the fuel rail so I fitted an adjustable regulator and a guage to set this correctly. Its a 2ltr duratec with roller barels but pricipal should be the same. I may be wrong but if you adjust the pressure your map may be wrong, Sure others will have better view on this. Quote
