Aero Screen In The Rain!

Is RainX OK on visors? It does say not to use it on plastic?

Asked about this a while ago, was told no, they do a version for visors. Unfortunately the shop was out of it at the time and just had ordinary. Having since fitted a windscreen, i never did try the version for helmets.

looks like you are correct, ive used it on my visor with good results as far as repelling rain, I think they advise against it as to avoid possible damage to certain types of visor coatings

For the sake of a few quid I find wateproof kneck warmer ideal (Oxford bike gear) :) .

Worn with your lid and suit it keeps you sealed in from head to foot.

Agree with smokie

Went to LeMans with full weather gear in 2007 got absolutely soaked, couldnt keep the inside of the screen clear, it was dam well dangerous at times

Swapped to an aeroscreen, raced at Cadwell in the rain last year, RainX on the visor, no problems with seeing and I felt the experience far safer!

It's much more fun to drive with aeroscreen than trying to stay dry with full weather gear.

Some how this catches the feeling quite well..

I was driving in local ring road in hard rain when some one passed me and drove same time into big puddle, it was scary to see all that water flying in the air and then realizing it will land straight into my face, I gotta say I was happy that I was wearing helmet, so no harm done.

I pefer two piece waterproofs to one piece. You can pretty much guarantee the place that leaks first will be the crotch (if I had a quid...), but with a one piece you have to bin the whole thing. With a two piece you can just buy a new pair of trousers. If you can, get trousers with poppers rather than zips for the leg fastening. The zips just catch the expander flap and break or cause leaks when they snag. It's a PITA...

I tend to agree with the others, screen, no screen, it makes little difference. Wear the appropriate clothes and it'll be fine. I did once Heath Robinson a tarpaulin over meself as I was driving in a monsoon back from Le Mans in 2001, but it rained so hard I had no choice but to stop and let it pass. Good job the ferry wasn't until Monday...

I've worn a waterproof kart suit before.

Not to everyone's taste and not the most fashionable of items but less than £40.00, surprisingly comfortable and the heat-welded seams kept me bone dry at all times. Simple to clean as well :)

Liam kitted himself out with an all in one condom suit......I still p*** myself with laughter some 6 yeras later.

Drill or hammer holes through the floor to let the water out. If you have plastic seats, then same here...holes in the bottom of seats or you sit in the puddle.

Good wax on the visor is as good as rain X. Open face helmet can be the best of both worlds, but def not for track, various styles from CHIPS or YMCA versions (i had one of those) to more Mr Leob spec. Caberg helmets can be had with an internal sun visor as a 2nd visor that is very tinted....this removes the need for sunglasses and swapping visors through the day and it makes you look like the stig.....a little bit.

:d Quality....I couldn't have described it better myself! No leakage so far though and hasn't broken despite repeated use!

Excellent. Waterproofs it is then. Anyone recomend me any good driving gloves, preferably warm but thin enough to have a good sense of feel for switchs etc..

A good tip from Gadgetman was to always match the material of your gloves to your wheel, ie leather for leather and suede for suede.

Playskool do some nice gloves and you may get a discount.
