Anyone Know This Car For Sale?

Flakey Racer

Recommended Posts

I'm considering going to view the car below, though it's over 150 miles away from me so thought I'd ask around a little to get a few opinions from those a little wiser than myself!

It's listed for £6500, 1993 plate, 2.1 pinto, 7k on the clock, 6 owners from new.

Looks good though seller hasn't listed much info about it which seems unusual for an enthusiast I would have thought(?)

There's a WSCC sticker on the role bar so assume someone may know the car.

It does look tidy and well cared for and prepared.

Don't worry too much about the info as many owners get a car and soon sell it on when they realise they do not like it....these are not so enthusiastic and hence little effort to sell. Check however what recipts and that the bits listed are actually fitted.

It is a narrow car, with top mounted pedles so big and tall might not fit.

Older style roof and weather gear that does about 85% job. alos black old crs can be a little chocolate brown in sun light, so look at it in sunlight, I know from personal experience.

Pinto should be tourquey and pull well, it might fluf a bit if you stamp on the load peddle at low RPM, but once up and running should pull to about 6/6.5RPM.

Thanks chaps. Black isn't quite as 'out there' as most of the Westfields around but does look well looked after as you say, well worth a viewing I guess.

How long have you been looking flakey? Stoneleigh is just round the corner, might be worth waiting for that and go have a good look around, take some cash mite get a bargain! That was my plan, but I just bought the first one I saw lol.....

I've only been looking for about 3 weeks or so but ideally wanted to get one before the good weather comes so I can make the most of the summer. It's another 7 weeks to Stoneleigh, don't know if I can be that patient. Would be nice to go though.

I see the Detling show is only 3 weeks away but I'm going to be abroad that week so can't make it, b*******!

The black one I spotted is a narrow body, is there much difference inside the cars between the narrow and wide body models? I'm young and only just 5ft8 so it doesnt really matter as such but compared to the Vx the narrow feels really tight.

So long as you're not a serial pie eater then a narrow will represent better value with your budget, they're a shade narrow and shorter in the cockpit, however the footwell is wider which helps a bit. It's only really around your :arse: that you'll notice the difference in width, and in any westfield you'll find yourself hanging your right arm over the side.

Having been going to Detling for the last few years I doubt you'll find many (if any) Westfields for sale there, Stoneleigh would be the better place to find a car.

I've never known the market for used westfields to be as quiet as it is at the moment, but I hope you find something soon :t-up:

Thanks for this, and to you Mark. I hadn't realised there was so little difference in size between them, gives me a few more options now as I'm not too bothered which to have.

I know how you feel, I'm impatient when I make my mind up, I started looking in September but it took 3 months for mine to jump out at me, there were a couple but they weren't Westies or were another compromise on something or other, surely they should be getting unwrapped now, however people may think sod-it Ill have some fun now its warm  ... :westy:

Good luck..
