Just a quick thank you!

I went over to Hullavington to see how Mooch was getting on and met a couple of other Westy drivers there.

Before I knew it, I had borrowed Mooch's lid and was being entertained by Dave in the Track Nail. This is one quick car, with a very quick driver. I haven't had that sort of visceral experience since having an aerobatic flight in an Extra 300!!

Thanks Dave - that was a marvellous drive!! I hope to return the favour sometime in the XI!

Cheers

Hey Jon

It was a pleasure, always good when your passenger's telling you to go faster even though you're at full chat :d:t-up:

Nice to meet you & mooch too, he had a cracking first day especially after pointers from Irling

Jumbo had a good 'un too, great lines & speed from the little mx5sdv, about time he strapped that blower to it ;)

Quite surprised the nail even got there after the fortnight's trials, have to keep blipping it above 2500 just to keep it alive, spitting back dramatically through the throttle bodies, battery dead each time I stop, alignment all over the shop, lots of understeer

Still, brakes work, the new CVs are quiet, I've nailed the floor back on, fixed the more corrosion than metal back light & acoustafil's made my exhaust quieter at 5k than 4.5 ???

Great fun though

Next time the engine might run properly & the wheels might be pointing in the right directions & I bet I have a bigger grin passengering in your XI! (Thanks for the kind offer /try & stop me!)

Cheers

Just to add my thanks, too,

First track day for me and the first time to really drive the new car at the limits - which at the moment is me, not the car!

Quite daunting to start with and had the distinct impression I was a rolling road block to everyone else in the early sessions, but that 25 minutes with Irling Jensen was worth every penny - once he explained a few things, especially the correct braking technique, I found a whole new confidence and felt I was starting to hook up some good laps by the end of the session. Still loads to learn but itching for the next day out!

Was a pleasure to meet Paul and James - and to learn so much from them, as well as the father and son team in the lovely blue Westy - sorry, forgot the names in all the excitement. The smile said it all when you got out of Paul's car, Jon - I'm looking forward to seeing that XI of yours on the track, too.

A fantastic day! :t-up: :t-up: :t-up:

Agreed, Simon! :d

....Errrr, sorry Paul - must've been the Gs of deceleration that scrambled my brain!!

Got to get some catches fitted to the XI, brake fluid change and install the lamps and gel battery and we're off (once MOT'd). Looking forward to it! And there are a couple of very handy filling stations nearby (on the main road and in the village) to cater for a 4 gal tank!!
