Mark (smokey mow)
Every so often a question gets asked on the Boardroom about the measurements of Westfield’s such as will it fit in my garage or how wide is the interior. So here as suggested by Captain Colonial I have attempted to pool all the information from past posts (and with a few dimensions from my own cars) to create a singe FAQ that hopefully will answer the most commonly asked dimensional questions. Please feel free to add anything of your own, correct any errors or suggest additional titles * disclaimer - all dimensions are approximate and are published for guidance purposes only. No allowances have been made to take account of different wheel offsets, interior trim panels, carpets or variations in manufacturing and/or assembly tolerances etc. It is always recommended that accurate measurements are taken from your own car before making any purchases or financial outlay. Will it fit in my garage?Standard Wide Body & Mazda SDVWidth (Front) over wheels/tyres (standard track) - 1480mmWidth (Rear) over wheels/tyres - 1620mmMaximum Width over body - 1640mmWheelbase - 2325mmOverall Length - 3450mmNarrow BodyWidth (Front) over wheels/tyres - ???mmWidth (Rear) over wheels/tyres - 1520mmMaximum Width over body - 1560mmWheelbase - 2335mmOverall Length - 3540mmSierra SDV & Cars With Extra Wide Rear Arches Width (Front) over wheels/tyres - 1480mmWidth (Rear) over wheels/tyres - 1700mmMaximum Width over body - - 1720mmWheelbase - 2325mmOverall Length - 3450mmWhat’s the smallest trailer a Westfield will fit on?Bed length - 10’ / 3048mmWidth - For ease of loading I would recommend 3-4” / 75-100mm wider than the width across the wheels.I want to change my seats, how wide is the cockpit?Standard Wide Body, Sierra & Mazda SDV’sDrivers Side - 16.75” / 425mmPassenger Side (Wide Tunnel) - 16.25” / 410mmPassenger Side (Narrow Tunnel) - 16.75” / 425mmTotal Interior Width - 39.5” / 1005mmTransmission Tunnel (Wide Tunnel) - 6.5” / 165mmTransmission Tunnel (Narrow Tunnel) - 6.0” / 150mmNarrow BodyDrivers Side - 15.5” / 395mmPassenger Side - 15.5” / 395mmTotal Interior Width - 36.5” / 930mmTransmission Tunnel - 5.5” / 140mm How much room is there in the engine bay?Standard Wide Body, Sierra & Mazda SDV’sHeight from underside of chassis to top chassis rail - 11” / 325mmWidth of Transmission Tunnel Opening (Type9 Tunnel) - 9” / 229mmWidth of Transmission Tunnel Opening (MT75 Tunnel) - 14” / 355mmHeight from chassis rail to underside of bonnet at nose (Kit, ZK and V8 Bonnets) - 8.5” / 215mmNarrow BodyHeight from underside of chassis to top chassis rail - 11” / 325mmWidth of Transmission Tunnel Opening - 9” / 229mmHeight from chassis rail to underside of bonnet at nose (Low Line) - 6.5” / 165mmHeight from chassis rail to underside of bonnet at nose (High Line) - 8.5” / 215mmI need to collect a tub/chassis will it fit in my VanWide bodyWidth of detachable arch tub without arches - 1160mmWidth of fixed arch tub - 1640mmLength of wide body tub - 2850mmWidth of bare chassis - 41.5" / 1054mmLength of bare chassis 2990mmNarrow BodyWidth of tub - 1560mmLength of tub - ???mmWidth of bare chassis - 38.5" / 980mmLength of bare chassis (to tip of nose cone tab) - 2970mm 6
Captain Colonial
Thank you for doing this sir, I am much obliged and will measure mine to get the final measurements. It's just that these get asked so often that this will be a perfect future reference. Very well done indeed!

rustie
Nice one. I would have had so much less hassle if this had been available 12 or so years ago when I started my build. A really useful FAQ.

Young Pretender
Is that a typo regarding the 'overall length' of wides and narrows? It suggests a narrow is 9cm longer?
Mark (smokey mow)
Is that a typo regarding the 'overall length' of wides and narrows? It suggests a narrow is 9cm longer? possibly, yes and its also likely there is some discrepancy between the method of measuring the two cars. A narrow should be around 3" shorter than a wide. Ian Podmore
Does the length include a spare wheel on the back?

Rustneversleeps
Is the prelit westfield chassis the same width/ dimensions as the more modern narrow body westfield? Am thinking of a full roll cage and wondering if the spacings of the rear hoop bolts, the width of the chassis midway along the edge of the scuttle where the front legs of the cage would fit, also the length of the cockpit are going to be the same on my pre-lit (the version with the really narrow tunnel) as the narrow model? The VIN suggests it was an 89 chassis. Thanks
1960dave
I have a 88 post lit I thought the 89 would be a poat lit. Are the rear wings smooth or do they have the swage on the edge?
Timppa
Hello all, Im looking to buy westfield or similar. Here in Finland there are not so many these cars available and infact i havent never even seen one.. Problem is that im a big guy. 6feet 4inches and weight is around 21stones. I assume there is no chance with narrow body? I knlw modifications has to be done either narrow or widebody. Another problem is that car has to be older than 30.12.1991 because registering issues in finland. And also has to be factory built. Any comments? Is these old widebodys even available that many? If you have car that fits my purpose, please offer! Edited August 9, 2019 by Timppa
stephenh
From what you say about your size, forget about narrow body cars. I don't know when the wide body was first introduced, but someone will be along soon to say if it was before 1992.
KenP
It was definitely before 92. Mine is a wide 91 chassis, I think it was quite an early wide though.
