Steve G Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 Any of you track day regulars know if there are any airfield track days being run not to far (40ish miles) from Oxford? My Westi has not been put through its paces since I bought it just over a year ago, and it is longing to be let of its leash! I'm sure that an airfield with wide runoff's and no Armco is just what it needs, but I do not know the best way to find out were and when these take place. any sugestions? I know they get booked up quick and I don't want to miss out this summer. Thanks Chaps Steve G. Quote
Westfields Rock On Posted April 22, 2002 Posted April 22, 2002 Have you tried book a track?? Book A Track Hope you find somewhere. Quote
Steve G Posted April 23, 2002 Author Posted April 23, 2002 Thanks, I'v had a quick look at Book a Track at your sugestion not many airfields though. But Colerne looks good, but no weekends! Any one know of any at Abingdon Airfield or the one near Swindon the name of which escapes me. Quote
mmmmdonuts Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Wroughton is near Swindon. Easytrack used to run days there. They also set up a new site near there but I think all the planning permission and everything fell through. Quote
ACW Posted May 1, 2002 Posted May 1, 2002 Hullavington is just after swindon on the M4. Motorsport events run track days there. Just went to one recently and impressed with the layout for an airfield. Very safe track, well organised, open pit lane. Only bad thing is their noise meter said I was 110dB when the MSA scutineers before and after the event at various circuits says 101db. (Big difference 110 vs 101 = 8times loud). But lucky for me they let me run anyway I just had to short shift at 6K. Go to Motorsport events website Quote
mattstead Posted May 4, 2002 Posted May 4, 2002 Get a copy of WHICH KIT magazine, I used to attend their Abingdon days, but they have lost access to it and now use 2 other airfields close to it : colerne and Hullavington. The dates are: Saturday 29th June at Colerne Airfield, Wiltshire Friday 19th July at Hullavington Airfield, Wiltshire Hope this helps, Matt. Quote
Steve G Posted May 8, 2002 Author Posted May 8, 2002 Thanks for the info Motorsport-events.co looks like a good place to start quite a few of dates for Hullavington and Elvington airfields so it's on with the crash hat for a bit of fun this summer Quote
