adamnreeves
Had a small car accident early last year. Exchanged insurance details. I spoke to my insurance company the very next day and filled out all the paper work for the accident. I received acknowledgements from them. It shows up on my renewal notice as pending. I asked them why is it pending as this was several months ago. They told me it just takes a while. Thought that was the end of it. On Friday court papers arrive addressed to me personally to recover monies! I had and still have fully comp insurance with the same company. Spoke to the insurance company again and they told me to ignore it!! That they are paying out it was all just crossed. They said they recently sent a letter out to me explaining all this and that I should have received this on Friday and if not then Monday. Strange as they always send me duplicate PDFs to my email account as well as letters in the post if necessary. I always get the PDFs first. I guess this is not normal really feel aggrieved by this. Captain Colonial
More normal than you might think - don't get me started. I was also on the end of this due to the utter and complete incompetence of the other person's insurance company (the talented can do a search in here of my name + accident + insurance + 2011). My insurance company (KGM through Frank Pickles) could not have been better. The other person's insurance company tried to inflate the write-off value of a ten-year old, barely damaged motorcycle by a ridiculous amount, did not respond to my insurer's numerous letters and emails, tried to go around them and bully me instead, then sued me for non-payment, which was all very worrying. I presume the other person involved was suffering the way you are now. I followed the insurance company's advice and did not respond, just forwarded everything to KGM. All settled in the end in a fair way, no thanks to the other person's insurance company, whom I will not name, apart from saying they were womplete cankers, who in their dealing with me had no Equity, made me see Red on many occasions, and were no Star in my books. Whole thing took 6+ months. Wonder why insurance rates keep going up and up...could it be admin?
adamnreeves
I think it may be similar. The other party claiming £2000. I claimed nothing as it cost me around £150. Wished I had taken a photo as the only damage to their 6 year old fiat punto was a scratch on the bumper.
SteveD
i could tell you a few stories if ins claims over the years adam ,we see and hear it all a girl/young woman claiming for wiplash from a side impact and there was no damage not even a scratch ,she brought it to us for a estimate ,i refused to do one as i could not see any damage she eventually went through the accident managment company who brought it to us for repair (we did not do it)they chucked out the claim as her husband worked for a no fault accident company ,turns out they had a few claims pending from the same stupid b***h for whiplash
Captain Colonial
Yep, all too familiar. I took photos, made no difference at all. Would love to say more but best if I don't, other than Richard Turpin is alive and well. Whatever happened to fast, fair and sensible resolution? I blame the Yanks. Oh, and I found out you can get money for whiplash when YOU hit something going forward at very low speeds - I always thought you could only get whiplash if you were hit from behind. Stupid me! adamnreeves
I am all for making sure the parties are fully reimbursed all the costs including out of pocket and inconvenience etc but outrageous claims are just wrong, I class it as theft. What really gets me boiling is when insurance companies just pay out when a little bit of investigation reveals the disception.
adamnreeves
Maybe I am old fashioned but if I am the guilty party then I apply a higher threshold to when I would claim versus if I was the innocent party. Maybe I am just a fool

frag68
I work in the fraud dept of an insurance company where we look at the crash for cash scams. Its unbelievable what goes on out there from these so called accident management companies. I put a rather long winded reply to a post about an accident management company, I think it was Ford or something like that, last year and no one seemed to grasp my point. Basically what I was saying is above. Inconvenience, injury, inflated claims all go to higher renewals. Adamnreeves, what is worrying about your situation is court papers. If the insurersdo not either get the matter dealt with and get the Court dicontnuance, then the other side can get Judgement, and if not satisfied, can have consequences against you for future credit. Ensure that the mater is all sorted out. Might even be worthwhile speaking to the solicitors on the other side to ensure that the mater is done and dusted within 14 days of service of the papers. Keep at them as even in our office, incompetence is rife.
