Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
The only thing with moving the rad back, is just watch those clearances between the fan motor and front anti roll bar if you have one fitted. CL290005 looks like he's got good clearance there, but they don't all!
CL290005
Gadgetman yes I have an anti rollbar and no its tight I recon 5-6mm will be all I can get it to come back hence why I also intend to drop it slightly, I have purchased a slimline fan to help but its tight, but I now have a 40mm alloy rad max size in the cone at a very low price. thos
Any link to this rad? Previous one has expired.
Kevin Jones
I run >300bhp on a polo, it over cools for short runs. The ducting you commonly see is to stop air passing around the outside of the radiator and is normally done with just some bent ally attached to the radiator and extending to the inside of the nose. This is very effective. Another bit I did was to remove the floor behind the radiator, this works a bit like a splitter, low pressure under the car helps suck air through the radiator. I made this change with some other cooling changes so not so clear how much that adds but I think its effective, although since I may not need it I plan to put the floor back here so I can run a splitter for better high speed stability. Need to cut out the lower slot on the nosecone too.
