This slight tweak to regs has taken out most of the very soft times in some classes and on the whole should make a much more level playing field for all.

If TTs were left unchecked, for instance, we would still have had TTs in C and E that were 7secs slower than A, surely that is unfair for all

Agree with Steve and Mark except that I cant see Silverstone in the 2012 calendar!

Is this new format for just this year until more realistic TT's are set and then reverting back to something more akin to last years format? Afterall, if its just to elimate supposed soft target times then by next season there wont be any

Just have to say that I agree with "the Diplomat". If the only people competing regularly in the Series were "pot hunters" it would be a very thin entry. Personally I wasn't in favour of the introduction of target times, but that doesn't stop me wanting to compete. I think the SS is a wonderful championship, and is contested by a very friendly and helpful bunch.

John

With the current rules it should revert automatically as new class records are set that meet the (not very complicated) requirement of being faster than the people in the (supposedly) slower classes are going. The only problem I see is that, unless JP or you (or Bambi) come to play in Class E, the current set of muppets might have some trouble beating the times that you two have set in Class C.

You know you want to . . . .

He He - for the sake of some tyres and a syncro gearbox I could try class A :)

I think the E and C cars are very similar,

The extra power and driving abilityof the top C cars of both Johns seems to easily negate the windscreen disadvantage

I would have thought that the separation of the Class A cars from the class C cars and the TT system would be better for a well preped and driven x/flow entered in A

We could of course introduce the Flintstone class, where you remove the engine altogether and put your feet through the floor like Fred Flintstone, but I dont think it would be that popular.......but you never know. :p

Good call but I would have to change the box and the ATB :( Don't like the idea of TT'S so it's not going to happen Stu

Steve

I thought you had a close ratio box and lsd, both of which are eligable for A at present

A is the perfect class for your car.

It would be really good to see you out competing again, its a shame that you feel the target time/class record system is such a barrier

Quite right Stu

What are you afraid of Steve? If I remember rightly you were very competative when you were competing and theres no reason why you wouldnt be now.

You have got this hang up about the TT system but there is really no need. You still get a buzz if you beat the other people in your class on the day.

I also had my reservations about the TT system and there have been aspects that have had to be changed for various reasons, mostly to make it as fair as possible to all.

As TCC said these are class records and should by definition be difficult to beat. In 2010 for example myself and Barney beat several class records, occasionally by some margin. In 2011 I think only about two or three records were beaten, and even then only by 10ths of second. This is really how it should be across all classes once things have settled down and will be a truer reflection of who is the fastest driver...........which is actually the point, isnt it.

in my experience people choose not to do things for various reasons ,but then use that as a convienient excuse to have a poke
