Matt Seabrook
.......is there a degree of rudeness in general with P.M.'s? The amount of P.M.'s I get that people require information and help with problems with their car that I take time to reply to and then nothing. Not even a one word thanks as a reply. May be I am just getting old.
peterg
May be I am just getting old Maybe you drive a Porsche, of course you're old I always (hopefully) say thanks for any help whether on here or by PM or just in general but I'm much older than you so it's probably a generational thing..... Mark (smokey mow)
You can see when someones read a PM. In the message screen it's shown on the left hand side under the participants heading and next to your avatar.

Matt Seabrook
Dont get me wrong I am not looking for an instant response as I know its not always possible if you want to construct a reply. But if all you need to do is a thanks then it would be nice if you could just say so.

s2rrr
There is no substitute for basic good manners, unfortunately more and more communication methods and folk forget that bit. Bob

peterm135
Not even a one word thanks as a reply. I know the feeling, but maybe its the accepted norm now
Norman Verona
Got talking to a shopkeeper in our local town. He asked why the English were so rude because they rarely said "Sil vous ples" when asking for what they wanted. I thought about this and worked out that as we walked to the shop we were working out the French for what we wanted and then were so engrossed in the translation that we forgot the politeness. But I also notice the lack of civility on some threads. Some of the techie questions get a few answers but never a reply from the questioner. I hope I always say thanks when someone has pointed me in the right direction, if I fail to so do then it's forgetfulness not rudeness.
