Rab (bombero) Reid
Well, not to be thwarted by the atrocious weather, I thought I'd catch up on my To Do List .. today, exhaust wrapping and fabricate a starter heatshield:
GreigM
looks like a neat job - better than the spaghetti wiring I ended up with today when wiring my water pump!
frag68
Neat work right enough. Was going to go out to the garage and do a wee repair to the floor as a few rivets have broken, but too cold, so put it off for another day. Need to put a heatshield onto my alternator. After seeing the job above, I will need to up my fabrication skills. Fraser
lippydave
This morning I drove my open Blitz buggy to my pal's MOT station... Much less wind protection than a Westie... Wore a beanie hat and sunglasses, the bottom half of my face was a tad cold to say the least. Then dropped it off at another mate's place to have a quieter exhaust fabricated.....My exhaust building pal said, "What kind of a daft tw*t drives in that on a day like this....? Only being on a bike today could be dafter..." Right on cue in walks my pal Big John to collect me....His first words are...."Alright Lip, my DRZ is ready for you to ride home...."  Rode the DRZ 10 miles or some home on kn0bblies across the icy roads...Was a hoot, but my fingers felt like they had a bad dose of frostbite.....I'd never thought of a Westie as a luxury car before but trust me, by comparison a Westie is like a bl**dy S class... :d So now we have 3 or 4 inches of snow outside and have to tend to the wife's horses first thing in the morning.....Another chilly start to the day... I'll be glad to go to work on Monday and warm up... :d

TBH Haven't done too much other than tidy the buggy up, and get the electrics working properly, oh and get it running too...
SootySport
Heat shields on a Westfield? Why?
Rab (bombero) Reid
The proximity of the starter is very close to the exhaust downpipes and as starters are prone to premature failure due to heat, then I thought .. why not! frag68
As we had a thaw on today and the roads were soaking with melted snow and salt, I decided to put the heater on in the garage, tune the DAB radio to Planet Rock and do some essential jobs on the car. I replaced a couple of rows of rivets on the floor pan which were loose or had broken, cleaned the front brakes as near side was sticking, and patched a hole in the exhaust as MOT looming and havent got the new pipe fabricated from the manifold to the new silencer yet. It was a very rewarding day. Did turn from Planet Rock to Radio 2 at 3pm to listen to Johnnie Walker's Sound of the 70s.. Need to do it more often.
