GreigM Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 OUCH! thats all I've gotta say - using a cutting disc in an awkward spot and managed to "brush" the palm of my hand through my sleeve and a pair of safety gloves...... :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: :swear: fortunately didn't cut the skin, but did leave a 2 inch long "burn" which hurts like hell!!!! B&Q really should be held responsible for selling dangerous power tools to muppets like me! Be careful out there people.... Quote

JeffC Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 my grinder is worse as i removed the guard a few years back in my wisdom and cutting a panel out last week I had a cutting disc explode in my face , I will be honest I didnt dare look in the mirror as straight away my face was stinging like fook, was sore for a few days but luckily ive still got my good looks Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 angle grinder - dangerous angle grinder and cutting disk - lethal angle grinder, cutting disk and no guard - suicidal !! My brother was using one lying under his landy a few years ago. It kicked back and hit his knee. Needed stiches. They go through flesh and bone instantly. Quote
GreigM Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Jeff, you're gonna be telling me I should have been wearing safety goggles as well? My problem is that my safety gear and stuff like my vice is buried at the other end of the garage and because its winter the other car is jammed in there, so I tend to do things like use my foot as a vice when drilling metal plates etc.....it really is teriffically stupid and lazy! chazpowerslide Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Mark J managed to set his groin alight with one, we let it burn for a bit before we told him though Chaz. Quote
jeff oakley Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I was using a 9 inch one cutting up some steel, it kicked back and went through my trousers and skin. It only stopped when it hit bone which was clearly visible. Wife nearly fainted but my daughter, who is now studying to be a doctor, found it a useful experiment to work on. Funny thing was it did not hurt until what seemed a long time afterwards. Quote
SteveD Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 my mate drilled his d1ck while drilling on a bench slipped and went into his groin , scewing a pair of joggy bottoms and his jeans and overalls around the drill his overalls turned red and the drill only stopped when the plug came out of the wall , they then had to unturn the drill until he could remove it from his clothes ,he went to hospital and from memory had 26 stitches in hios d1ck , the nurses kept popping in to the treatment room as he was sat there with his manhood on a towell for all to see ,on the pinboard outside the room it said lasserations to penis that may have had summat to do with it Quote
markcoopers Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Yep i was smoking that day chaz. :d :d Quote
markcoopers Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 To be fair, messing about with power tools does have it's place. I made a belt sander power tool drag racer.....lasted all of 30+ meters as we ran out of flex, but quick Quote
fatbaldbloke Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I was using an angle grinder with a sanding disc a few years back. I was grinding in an awkward corner and the rubber backing pad touched part of the bodywork, gripped like a slick tyre, flew up the metal and skinned most of my arm from wrist to elbow with the sanding disc. It wasn't very deep to be honest but looked bl00dy impressive when it scabbed over. Quote
Terry Everall Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 No second chances with that sort of gear and a few years ago I was lucky when the chainsaw slipped off tree branch onto my foot. Luckily I was wearing safety rigger boots which the chainsaw destroyed! Foot was amazingly ok Quote
FILFAN Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Is this a bad time to mention I fitted a circular saw blade to my 2 stroke strimmer as I didn't think to much to the supplied bush cutting tool. Crazy as hell but it did make a good job of 4 inch tree trunks. Quote
