Not sure I'd prosecute on the basis of an ex-wives evidence.

That being the case, Norm, there may be other evidence... :o

a woman scorned .....

Seems completely out of all proportion to the original underlying offence but he has escalated it and of course PTCOJ is seen as very serious.

Shows how ridiculous it has got when petty motoring crimes lead to people lying to avoid bans. The system needs to change. You could easily imagine the same thing happening across the country.

I assume the missus will plead guilty but claim under duress so will get a slap on the wrist and why Huhne will be f***** and probably do time.

Can't say I'll be sad to see the back of him, or indeed many politicians.

Fixed that for you - wrong way around.

I don't care how important or unimportant a person you are - the law must apply equally to all or it means nothing. They obviously feel, after forcing the Sunday Times to hand over emails between them and his ex-wife, that they now have enough evidence to proceed - in which case, rightly so.

Not saying he and / or she are guilty or innocent - only that they have cases to answer.

But it's a cautionary tale about brassing off your partner!

The Daily Mash on good form today :

Meanwhile researchers who do not believe in the climate have confirmed a definitive link between alleged speeding point shenanigans and solar panel feed-in tariffs.

Experts at Delingpole University claim to have proved how Mr Huhne's impending criminal trial is the direct result of years of dishonest carbon reduction opinions.

Using state-of-the-art computer models they found that if Mr Huhne had continued advocating renewable energy he would eventually have driven his car into the middle of a nursery school and asked whichever woman he was sleeping with at the time to take the blame.

Professor Roy Hobbs said: "There is now a consensus that most people who believe in global warming will eventually be charged with perverting the course of justice. Or murder.

"Conversely, climate disbelief reduces the likelihood of criminal charges by 83% and even if a sceptic was somehow charged there is a mountain of data showing they would obviously be the victim of a devillish conspiracy.

"It's a great day for science."

Chris Huhne’s ex-wife to stand down as Energy Secretary

Vicky Pryce, the former wife of Liberal Democrat politician Chris Huhne, has today tendered her resignation from the Cabinet and the position of Energy Secretary, a role everyone had thought that her ex-husband had been performing.

‘I know a lot of people think that my former husband has been at the wheel of the Department of Energy and Climate Change,’ said Ms Pryce today, ‘but despite what the evidence might suggest, in fact I was in the driving seat all along. It is therefore only right that as I prepare to clear my name of charges of perverting the course of justice, I stand aside and allow another Liberal Democrat to be brought into the Cabinet. Perhaps Chris Huhne, for example.’

Although commentators are now suggesting that this could be the end of Ms Pryce’s career in frontline politics, she remains upbeat. ‘If they do give my Cabinet job to Chris Huhne, no one will notice if I turn up and do it instead. Have you seen photographs of us? You can’t tell us apart.’

All joking apart he must be guilty otherwise the cowardly people who run the CPS would not have touched this with a barge pole. What will be interesting is where you might find 12 people who could sit on a jury and not think all poloticians are lying b*******s.

On the other hand it is only since he left his wife that this has come out, is it just revenge, which I suspect his brief will atempt to portray, or has the fact she has been replaced caused a shift in her morale compass.

If found guilty he will do time, hit an old lady, mug a teenager slap on the wrist, stick two fingers up at the law do time.

Normally these cases rely on self incrimination but given the profile I doubt that they would bring a case just on the basis of his word vs hers.

There must be hard evidence that it could not be her - e.g. she was in a different location or documentation of him asking her to do it such as an email or text message.

No doubt Huhne will also stand behind the simple sword of truth and shield of decency... :d

As long as he doesn't go picking up the soap of "you're my b***h now" when they lock him up.

What I cant uderstand is the guy who his getting his job, was relieved of his former "Ministership" because he was screwing his expenses?

So if he's found guilty and jailed....Will he get another go at being a minister when he's released, after the dust has settled......or will he be thrown out of parliment?

Can't belive an ex wife would be so vindictive as to plead guilty to take he ex husband down. She wouldn't would she ?.Unless they have a clear identification its down to there own pleas, New evidence could be interesting. Heads he loses and tails he loses unless of course he ups her maintenance somewhat and they both stick to the she was driving claim. In which case CPS own goal again, lets hope its crystal clear. That would never happen though, lets see how he weasels out of it.

Lets not prejudge the case here. Remember this is a public forum. I suspect most on this boardroom would share my con tempt for the press, particularly the red tops, when they try and have trial by media. Well we shouldn't do that either should we? ??? ???
