dreed
If accepted, will be competing in Class A with List 1A tyres, car is registered with an 09 plate. Do I need a catalytic converter fitted, how strict is scrutineering. Have had a new exhaust fitted without one to reduce noise level. peterg
Do I need a catalytic converter fitted yes, in theory you should how strict is scrutineering well, let's just say if a scrute asks if there is one you always say "yes"
Mid life crisis
Think it depends on your defination of competing as opposed to participating. Look at it this way, you will be running a non compliant car in a competative series. If you were to do well against complient cars, the owners of which had invested time and money preparing their cars to meet the standards of the regs, you may find objections being tabled ??? My advice is don't win anything and you should have no problems Enjoy

Terry Everall
You are inlikely to be asked and I have never seen or heard of a check being done. many of us do run CATs but its becoming less common
tim
what is the problem steve, the lad is only asking for advice about the cat in a 09 car,.
Mid life crisis
No problem at all Tim. Dreed simply asked a question about runing an 09 car in the SS without a cat, clearley an 09 car under MSA regs should be fitted with a cat. Matt Seabrook
Agreed if you plan to cheat then accept being caught if you are at the front. If you are happy to bring up the rear then you should get away with it.
stewart pickles
You are inlikely to be asked and I have never seen or heard of a check being done. many of us do run CATs but its becoming less common they do check now and again tel seen them do it with an Infrared thermometer on the exhaust system
stephenh
Everybody in class A is likely to see this thread, or most at least, so if you look like beating someone for a trophy they might get upset. Not me, I'm in a different class, and I do have a cat by the way, and can prove it. My silencer box is going blue where the cat is housed, and I've got Matt Simpson's invoice for the system.
