Next Derby/notts Meet @ The Clock + Jcb Diesel Land Speed Record Presentation

Feb 23rd will see the next Derby and Notts meeting at the Clock Shardlow and also the 2nd event of our 2012 calendar.

David Brown, chief engineer and project manager, will give a talk with video and slides of the JCB attempt at the land speed record for diesel powered cars.

The Staffordshire-built vehicle was driven by Wing Cmdr Andy Green at speeds in excess of 300mph!

All WSCC members and friends welcome.

This will be held at The Clock Warehouse in Shardlow, Derbyshire, DE72 2GL (see Clock Warehouse). We have the whole of the top floor for our disposal. Arrival is from 7:OOpm for a start at 8.00pm

Not sure if of any interest but we were the logistics company who arranged the aircraft etc and flew the whole project to Salt lake City and back after the successful outcome. We did all the cargo build up including all the support equipment and spare bodywork plus the car. With bodywork it was over 30ft long.

It flew from Stansted Airport on a chartered 747.

I had the opportunity to meet David and the team several time including when the car was being tested at RAF Wittering. I beleive the car could have gone faster if they had better tires!
