John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
I'm puzzeled by all the latest ads on TV for Saniflow systems - fit a bog in your cellar or attic or anywhere. Simple water connections are all thats required apparently. If thats the case, where does all the crap end up? Do you have to empty it occassionally? Just curious as I'm not interested in buying one. I've looked on their website and the info on how they work seems vague
zvezdochka
Saniflow has a motor driven macerator to smash the crud and then pumps the slurry. advantage is you can use a 2 inch pipe instead of 4 inch for waste.
KugaWestie
You can actually run the macerated waste in a 22mm overflow pipe, it is pumped under pressure and then either ends up in a manhole or gets connected into the soil and vent pipe
CRAIGR
Are they any good
Hammy
The do work ok , but can be very exciting when they go wrong
Dibby
It's for if your thunderbox is below the sewer level and won't gravitate. It pumps up and all the crap ends up in the sewer system. Maceration is no longer allowed in the water industry, don't know how long private customers will be able to get away with it
bhouse
The do work ok , but can be very exciting when they go wrong They're also very powerful. Did you know they can project the 'macerated waste' up to 5 metres with a spread of 2.5 metres if an incorrectly fitted output knuckle fails... Mark (smokey mow)
The do work ok , but can be very exciting when they go wrong They can also be very noisey and the motor runs after the flush for a while so are not really suited for use quietly in the middle of the night unless you want to wake the wife. Jumpy07
I have a Grundfos one.. very quiet and doesent run very long after a flush.. plumber recommend it over the Saniflo one.... Word of caution.. wet wipes kill them.. not very nice to dismantle and remove... Craig

John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
P'raps they thought it was too bleeding obvious to most intelligent people.... Nope - they clearly show only water supply pipes in their working diagrams
peterg
Seems fairly clear on their website http://www.saniflo.co.uk/homeowners/sfa-product-line/saniflo-product-description/ The Saniflo macerator pump unit fits unobtrusively behind the WC.You may choose any make or colour of WC suite (BS EN 33 or 37 Horizontal Outlet) you want to suit your decorative scheme. When the WC is flushed the unit automatically activates to pump waste horizontally to a remote soil pipe up to 50 metres away. Saniflo will also discharge vertically up to 4 metres maximum, or a lesser combination of vertical and horizontal pipe run.
