Ciprian Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 The car came to me without any history so I am now trying to build a folder with whatever I can find. I have managed ( luckily ) to trace the previous 2 owners but they had no history with it either. Prior to this the car was in Lanark. Anybody know anything on the owner or the builder of this car ? It is a white wide body crossflow 1990 chassis and registered in 1998. Thanks, Chip Quote
Matta Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Chip - I remember seeing a similar car at Boness Hillclimb a couple of years back, I think the owner was somewhere around Forth. It was for sale for a while after that and wasn't particularly expensive (I quite fancied it). However, it had an old Lotus Twincam in it then and not a crossflow - also had clamshell front wings. I'm sure I had a pic of it somewhere. If I can find it, I'll check the reg. Matt Quote
frag68 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Chip, Im from outside Lanark and to be honest I cant recall seeing it. These cars are distinctive and if I had saw it on a regular basis then it may have stuck in my mind. Sorry, I cant help. Fraser Quote
Rab (bombero) Reid Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Chip, IIRC for a wee sum, you can get a copy of all previous owners' details from the DVLA. Before anyone posts about folks' details and human rights, i believe the DVLA simply provide name and address at time of ownership .. Quote
Ciprian Posted January 25, 2012 Author Posted January 25, 2012 bombero, nice one, I'll go through the DVLA and get some details. That might be a good lead actually. Matt, the car had swept wings previously, I can still see the holes in the sides after the 'repair'. It still had them until Q3 2010. Fraser, aparently the car was bought from a private owner in Lanark with a 'beautiful house' and this was somewhere Q2 2010. Quote
frag68 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 To be fair there are a lot of nice houses in and around Lanark. I work in the insurance fraud industry and the form you need is a V888C, For a £5 fee and the form the DVLA will supply you with the history. However going on experience its difficult to get the info, however for individuals it might be easier. Best of luck though. Fraser Quote

Fraser Aye, I found it easy to get the info on a couple of old Beetles I owned .. albeit a little slow to get. The info that is .. okay, AND the Beetles! Quote

They basically send you photocopies of the V5 from every change of owner, showing the new owners address. I paid about £10 when i did it 10 years ago. Quote
Matta Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Hi Chip - the one I had a photo of wasn't yours. Reg was Q708PTS. Apologies, Matt Quote
